Perhaps we are all over panicking here. We still have Aluko to come back after his injury, Fryatt missed most of last season so should be fit to go, Proswitchs i still believe will come good for us. Boyd is also a good foil if played in correct position. I personally dont think we are as desperate as some people may think, yes a 15 goal striker would be good but can we honestly say that Austin or Hooper are worth 5 million pounds more than our current strikers. Robbie Keane on loan for me.
Shame we can't afford Loic Remy from QPR, he looked the part in a really **** team. For that matter I'd take Hoilett if we could get him back to his best.
So now the dust has settled somewhat how are we all feeling about today's (last night's) developments? I have to say Im more excited than disappointed - I cant wait to see who we're linked with now.
He's apparently willing to take a pay-cut: He joined Blackburn on the promise they were funding a promotion charge, they have no money and he knows they're not going to be challenging for promotion any time soon. Bolton are apparently looking to do a deal if they can find the cash.
He's up for a rape charge in September, imagine splashing the cash and then he goes to prison. Not a great idea even if we had the money.
A bit of both, I did think we were overpaying by some whack, but I was looking forward to seeing him and I'm not sure who else we'll get in in his place. On a purely footballing level I'd love to see Mboyo but I doubt it will happen due to what he's done, unless it starts getting late, we haven't got anyone and are desperate and he's still available. Hooper would have been my preferred choice but it looks as though he's out our price bracket. Jordan Rhodes would be nice but it depends if Blackburn really will cut their losses and he will take a pay cut. Either way I'd like to see us push the boat out a bit and look higher than Austin, pay a bit more for one but get a second cheaper option, maybe Gedo or someone in on loan like Guidetti.
To be honest I can really see this. There doesnt seem to be a host of EPL clubs after him so unless he wants to try an experience abroad I can see it happening. I didnt think he was only 29 to be honest, I thought more 32. Him, Gedo and Aluko excites me more than with Austin instead. No honestly, at least we'll have some EPL experience then and he's not as over the hill as I suspected. Lets suspect Austin would be on, say 20k. Then if we get a player for free - such as Cole - that lets us offer an extra 30k a week in wages over a 3 year deal for exactly the same price (I think). I'm not suggesting we'll give Cole 50k a week, but we can certainly offer him 35k and still be better off financially. Cant we? Maths has never been my strong point...
I'd take Cole happily if his wages aren't too high meaning we have a good chunk to go and sign a marquee goal scorer with.
what - 1 in 3 isnt good enough? We've literally no chance of anyone with a proven better record than that. If he plays 30 games that's 10 goals which would be amazing for us.
Can anyone really see him moving to the new CITY OF CULTURE? The HU postcode rule will only shoot Allam in the foot as the furthest North I can see him moving is The English Riviera or maybe up to The Wash. Then again SB has real pulling power, so stranger things have happened.
