**** sake. This was always going to happen after everyone was talking about it like it was a done deal... I'm inclined to agree with Bullshit Man, £4.5m was always too much for a Championship striker with a year left on his deal. I'd still have liked us to sign a bloody striker though. If we're ruling out Hooper and Austin, there isn't another striker we've been linked with that sounds anything like promising to me, so I hope we do get someone unknown to us so far.
I think it makes us look anything but desperate. If we were desperate, he'd be a hull city player right now.
There must be signs that surgery would be needed soon. http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00529 Looks bad if you are expected to head crosses in. Real, pity, chance of the big time gone. Next!
Fair point actually. Wouldnt it be ironic if, considering the situation with Boyd and his medical, he now signed for Florist?
Trouble with shoulders is they have a nasty nack of recurring. Never forget a forlorn Brian Robson slinking of the field with his arm across his chest in Mexico 86 when we needed to beat Morocco. Then that idiot Wilkins went and got himself sent off! I think if it wasn't for the fact it was such a big fee we might have decided it was worth the risk, but when so much is at stake, we have made the right decision. MBOYO now for me!
Rhodes hasn't been linked with us by anyone apart from you. Mboyo I know nothing about apart from that everyone hates him due to the rape business, so it's hardly ideal.
Its a shame but it was a gamble. Now Brucey will have to look elsewhere Austin was is first choice considering what he would get for 4 million and then the wage he would have been on. Lets be honest to us its a lot of money but in premier league standards its not a great amount when your looking for a decent goalscorer
Plenty out there. Dont panic - no point,. FFS, get a grip. It is a long way from being a disaster. It would have been if we had signed him as things stand.
Gutted. Was looking forward to seeing him in a City shirt - of a little and large, there was only really him and Holt as the large and both are out the window now. It's bizarre this medical; hasn't it been said he's only missed 14 games in 2 and a half seasons at Burnley?!! It can't be that bad surely? As for alternative options: Heard Jordan Rhodes can be got for around £6million. That is how much Blackburn have left to pay to Huddersfield - the next instalment of £2.5 million is due in August and they don't have the money to pay - they've apparently been hawking Scott Dann around to clubs for £4million to pay the bill instead, but nobody will take him at that price.
He signed for Dynamo Kiev on an extortionate deal. He wanted to move to England but we had other targets at the time so we weren't going to bid. That boat has sailed. Maybe go for somebody who impressed at the U21s (that's Englands team out then) just gone? Manolo Gabbiadini (no relation to the former Derby striker I don't think, or the youngster we released a few seasons back) looked really, really good but would cost far too much.
