I think you deserve something for your tenacity. Not a cigar but maybe a box of Needlers chocolates which were favourites of both my mum and myself! My husband would like a final word.

" Neil Franklin is my all time second favourite City player after Carter. My grandad/dad along with others believed that if Stoke had released him to us in 1949 we would have been promoted to the old Division1 with Franklin playing with the Carter team that was promoted in 48/49. We were second for a few months but faded to 7th. He was then free of the knee ligament problems which came shortly after he finally joined us in 1951.

His football prowess is best summed up in his obituary published by The Independent in 1996 as shown in the link below".

I was joking with my mercenary comment. As the article suggested, clubs treated players like chattels in those days, so NF was attempting to do best for his family in trying circumstances. I can`t recall if I ever actually saw him play for City - my granddad first took me to a game in 56 when I was 9 years old, but the memory is dim. They used to say Bobby Moore had a lot of NF in him - I can see why from the article. Cheers.

Harsh. Wayne Brown was good especially alongside Turner in our last promotion season.

Bullard by far the worst waste of wonga.

Folan was good value as well(he won us more games than Campbell actually) and to compare him to Trevor Francis in value is like comparing the price of petrol now to what it was back in 1990.
