yeah.... benteke must have been tapped up by someone for this to occur. it seems to be right as they go to preseason tour of germany so there must be some reasoning behind it. rather unprofessional perhaps? In any rate i think it will umble for a while. the real good news is villa is going to athletico madrid not spurs.... phew! with adebayor leaving too it certainly leaves a hole in thier side so if bale goes and we end up seeing paulinho his replcement then we don't see the same frighteningly improved spurs. I wonder who they will buy though.... Oh and mkhitaryan? i'm good with that.
tapped up by chelsea...... shocker.. .thats never happened before under mourinho.... all they need now is to teach him to blow his lips like a horse and fall over.... back to stilted defensive Chelsea top of the league eh?
not sure why you are laughing? should take it as a compliment. we want to get back in top 4 and with Chelsea and City having silly money, utd having a ready made squad and Arsenal just consistent at getting top 4, we have Spurs who are building a good squad and Bale is key to that. be no dif to you i suppose in hoping we get rid of Luis, as with him we are more of a threat to the top 4 we are after, than without.
If Ian Ayre can get between £8-10m for Downs then i'll be happy with that. I don't think we need to reinvest the money in that area either as I think we have youngsters who can do a job on the wings (along with Aspas, Alberto, Sterling, Suso and even Suarez & Henderson at a push). I still think we need a centre back and a defensive midfielder. I think our attacking line of Suarez, Sturrage, Aspas, Sterling, Suso, Henderson, Borini & Ibe is sufficient to push for top 4 providing everyone ups their game this season I really hope Borini & Allen kick on this season. The Under 20's european championships have given us a taster of what Borini could be with some very good performances so I think he has bought some time while the pressure is on the welsh Xavi to prove his worth
I would be very happy with £8-10m for Downing. I still feel that we're 2 big signings away from having a strong team for next season - CB and AM. I hear that Papa is our main CB target - if we fail to get him, then we won't sign another 'starting' defender and will expect Toure to partner Agger. BR still wants a young defender with Ilori being the player. No idea if we have another target in mind after HM but any deals for the 2 'big' signings are not dependent on Suarez leaving (which is slightly reassuring).
The question is, is Ilori really better than Skrtel or Coates? I know his cheaper and his wages are less but defensively you need quality from the first team right the way back to youth players - This Ilori transfer reeks of the Coates deal imo
please log in to view this image Seriously though, I'd prefer Spurs to keep Bale. Not that I don't think he is a top player (although he isn't as good as the media make out but that's English media on a British player for you!) but imagine what spurs could do with between £60m and £80m? They could go a buy the elusive forward (or two) that they desperately need as well as replace Bale, albeit with a inferior player but still a very good one. Personally, I'd be annoyed if I found out that Liverpool have turned down a £60m to £80m bid for Suarez (here comes the 'Bale is better than Suarez' argument ) because no player is bigger than the club and that sort of money could really help us push on to bigger and better things (assuming the money is spent wisely).
It ain't gonna happen? Probably not, I agree. That said, according to most of the muppets on your board, you were definitely going to sign David Villa. How did that work out?
