I agree to a certain extent - if all players were loyal then there'd be no transfers...

Find me one quote of a Spur's member of staff saying we want Benteke.

Also worth noting are all the rumours are Chelsea have made an offer of £20m and Ba - Nothing to do with us.

It's not like he didn't know what he was moving to... Yes they had a poor season, but Villa are one of the biggest and most prestigious clubs in this country, and they put faith in him to bring him out of total obscurity. The least he could do is repay some of the faith they've shown in him.

I'm not a religious person, but for someone who claims to be a devout christian I think it's pretty abhorrent behaviour.

How funny would it be if you went in and got Higuain

A young Belgian with the potential to move to a massive club NOW should show faith to Villa because they 'used to be good' - Give over - Its the kids career, his life, where he has to spend all his time day in day out.

I'm so sick of hearing the whole "loyalty" and "showing faith" arguments. If someone came up to ANY of us on here and said "come work for me, you'll be doing the same thing but we'll pay you more than double and you'll be rewarded with the chance to win trophies and medals to show your grandkids." none of us would say "actually, my current employer took a chance on me so no thanks."

If he was an English lad that had been playing for their academy for since he was 7 I'd say yeah, he should show them some loyalty as they made him who he is today; but the fact is if Benteke hadn't have been playing for Villa last season they'd have finish in the bottom three and been playing in the Championship next year.

Sorry if this seems like a rant aimed at you, it's not - I just completely disagree with people constantly claiming player's like Benteke are unloyal or questioning his attitude.

To me the fact he is desperate enough to further his career and win medals and play for a top team is a great attitude - Having that desire to win, that desire to be the best can be the difference between an Adebayor and a Drogba.

If he wants to think about his career he'd be better off staying where he is for now, proving himself, being the main man for a while longer, and getting his big move in a couple of years. Apart from the tabloids, who says he has the potential to move to a massive club? There haven't been any bids, no tapping up, no press releases, I personally would be very surprised if one of the top 10 clubs in Europe went for him after one good season.

I've been trying to figure out who the front 3 would be if we don't get anyone else, and I'm not coming up with any very reassuring answers. The best I can do is Bale on the right, Gylfi on the left, and Ade in the middle. I know, I know, it would have to be the Ade from the year before last, and you'd have to share my high opinion of Gylfi's creative and goalscoring abilities. But even so, I'm not wild about that. I just don't know what would be better.

Lennon's great, but I have trouble picturing him effective on the left. I guess you could have him on the right and Bale in the middle. Dempsey on the left would score goals but do nothing else. Plus, I can't believe we'd get very far starting Dempsey. Defoe would score better goals, but I can't believe he'll be healthy for more than half the year. Holtby? Dembele? Defoe, Lennon and Bale might be a good three against attacking teams.

A little scary, a front 3 with only one player of quality.
Deep down many of us realise that a team playing Siggy, Dempsey, Ade , upfront is weak compared to others around us and will result
in failing again. Once again we will be focused on Bale being 80% of our attacking, creative output.
Even Lennon is rather hit and miss for me but better than the above 3.
Central midfield looks very good , solid, but lacks flair.
Defensive is OK as all our resources should be focused on those 2 upfront very weak positions.

IMO, Benteke is doing nothing wrong by handing in a transfer request and I agree with TJ. It must have been horrendous playing for villa last season. He's better than a team who were fighting relegation all season. Like TJ says, if he'd been at swansea or everton for example, it would probably be a different story. Handing in a transfer request after a season with either of those clubs wouldn't be on at all.

I know we've missed out on villa and everyone is slating the ITKs at any opportunity, but it's funny how they said that another player visited on Monday (probably without the consent of his club) and suddenly Benteke hands in a transfer request 24-48 hours later....

Re the Villa situation. As I read it, what has happened is that Atletco have had a bid for Villa accepted by Barca. Nowhere, that I've seen, does it say that Villa has agreed to go there. IF that's the case, then if we matched, or bettered Atletico's bid, it would then be down to Villa to decide where he wants to go.

Holtby and Dembele Have played as strikers, but i would prefer at least one proven striker,to be signed, instead of playing Midfielders in striking rolls, that way we will miss out with C/L football IMO,and definetly lose Bale as well

He didn't! It was widely reported he thought Villa was a London club when he signed and only discovered when he started. He's that dumb.
As far as the transfer request goes - its a request, not a strike. Villa have left him at home for a trip. Players are entitled to request a move, it's striking that is low.
I'd love him at spurs, would make a change for a player trying to move to us rather than away. It's undoubtedly Chelsea though

If benteke is right why did we get pissed off with modric when chelsea bid for him and he wanted to go just a year after signing a new contract?
Modric would have won a fa cup and cl medal if he had gone....and he had already given us 3 yrs service....
Benteke is being a dick but cos it ain't us suffering we are excusing him

Haven't they both put it on their official website? I can't see them doing that if it's not done or just waiting for the last few pieces of paper to be signed.

I agree and said the same some while ago. It's not the same as Modric though, a transfer request seems almost dignified next to sabotaging your club by refusing to play.

Modric went on strike and was not right in the head to play. If Benteke does that then he is the same, but you can't label him as such yet
