Was assuming the summer budget Tommy - I did study a bit of accountancy at Hull Uni (so I'm not following the Bartlett/Duffen school of finances) - as for the January budget that will depend on where we are, what injuries we have picked up and whether the players we have signed have performed to the level we as a club expect of them
Ah fair enough. I'm guessing if we are in mid table then we won't spend too much and we'll probably use our position to sign some younger players. If we are in relegation troubles (more than likely) then we might have to spend a little more to make sure we don't fall through the trap door.
Id take cattermole, a true warrior on the football pitch and come the last few games of the season we would need a hardened battler in the team. Forget about the yellow cards as the crowd love a player like this and can become the 12th man.....or 11th to replace cattermole after too many tackles
It's funny that people are talking about January already. I think we'll be in the bottom 5 come January. We might be a few points clear and we might be a few points adrift but either way we won't be down. With the team Bruce has built I'd be happy for us to stick with what we have and if we come down, take the money and enjoy smashing some teams next season in the championship.
Would love either tbh, and for the reported fees of £1.5m (Palacios) and £2m (Cattermole) they'd both be great business!
Wouldn't want Cattermole even on a FREE. I like the sound of the Wendies target Nortei Nortey what a great name
Palacios for me. Would be a great addition to midfield with Aluko and Austin firing up front. Cattermole on loan if it's an option. Am very excited
I'd rather we signed a centremid who wasn't a complete sicknote (such as Huddlestone, Cattermole and Palacios)
Palacios has not played for the best part of two seasons due to (knee I think) injuries. It would be an expensive gamble. Surely Bridcutt is a better option as the enhanced transfer fee would be offset on lower wages. Potential huge resale value on him too
Palacious was available all last season, he just wasn't played. Bridcutt would probably command a fee in excess of £5m, so he'd pretty much have to play for free for three years to make up the difference.
The fact that Palacios had zero impact, at a mediocre team like Stoke over two seasons, bothers me a lot. I'd rather another name came out of left field.
£6m to £1.5m now. Its Hughes who has told him he is not wanted, not Pulis. Something is really wrong here. We've taken at least two Stoke rejects recently who have under performed. Even if, as you say, he is fit (which I dispute anyway) then a Cattermole who might play half a season is a better prospect. Neither are though in my opinion.
Palacios was fit all of last season, Pulis decided like numerous other players before Palacios, not to play him. Injuries where not the reason he didn't play, Pulis didn't think he was good enough. I would take Palacios personally but i still think we need someone who can come deep and collect the ball from the back four as even at times last year we struggled with that, Evans did it okay but he is a very average Championship player.
Ryan Tunnicliffe. And yes Thomas I know you think he's **** but trust me, you're wrong. He's a monster.
Palacios- how can we judge him over the last two years he has hardly played but why? however when he played for Wigan he was brilliant, Regarding Cattermole if i am honest i have not seen a lot of him but i do know he is banned a lot. We certainly need a strong midfield tackler who can pass.
