    So, we have a midfield of;
    Hyam
    Anderson
    Skuse
    Tabb
    Wordsworth
    Edwards
    Taylor (possibly striker)

I wonder what MM's formation and first choice midfield will be.
I'd like to see Wordsworth and Anderson out wide, with Hyam and skuse in the centre.
I'm sure Taylor will play off a loan striker (if he gets game time)

    Welcome to Town Paul.
The squad is taking shape and we're not shelling out bucket loads of cash to do it either.

I am really pleased by Anderson coming here, a great bit of business imo. He knows Dids and Chambers from his days playing alongside them at Florist and Skuse from Bristol so he will settle in realy well. He has got all the attributes that JET unfortunately lacks and he will supply the ammo from the Right Wing.

I have also heard that Berra from Wolves is pretty much a done deal and will be announced later this week so the momentum is building.

I just hope that I get to see Anderson play against Crawley on Wednesday night.

by loan striker did you mean that or was it a typo for lone striker? not trying to go all spelling police on you but just wondered if you meant you thought we would try to get a new striker in
If you take away Edwards from the list of names it a promising midfield for a few years to come.

From what I saw Wordsworth isn't really a winger, although he did used to play there. We've got a fairly solid midfield that can compete with any one in the championship, would like to see us get a bit more creativity in there though, possibly with a playmaking CM and a speedy LM (unless Carson can step up to the plate).

Have to say when I look at our squad it doesn't fill me with any excitement, I think we've had far better players in the past 5 years but it's solid and I'm sure Mick is building a team rather than a collection of individuals.

Do you think there is any chance you will come back in for Sean St. Ledger? You have tried to sign him of us a number of times and now he is available

Unless he is available for free I can't see us showing too much interest.. how long does he have on his contract? As I wouldn't be surprised if we offered to take him on loan for the season (if we're interested) & you're that keen to get shot of him....

Decent player though, I wouldn't be against us bringing him here but I think McCarthy has been looking at plenty of other options at centre half

    Regarding Anderson
He is a good worker but a little lightweight and can be knocked off the ball is happy to play left or right. You wont see too much individual magic from him but if you keep playing him in his proper positions and don't expect him to act as an auxillary defender you will have a good player.
    Regarding JET
I've seen him quite a few times and usually his best performances IMHO have been in an advanced central midfield role behind the striker/s would you think that is true from your observations?
Good Luck for next season especially as it looks like you will bave a large chunk of the team from my side of last year if you sign Gerken, who is a good keeper but didn't want to stay as second fiddle to Heaton in L1 but then Heaton left anyway one of those things.

Anderson sounds like a proper Mick signing then.

I'd say you're spot on, whenever I've seen JET he's best centrally either in a free role behind the striker or even to some extent as a striker. I think he's best centrally as he gets the ball more there, you need to give him alot of the ball and he will make things happen (he may also frustrate). I think it may be a good move for him and will decide whether he can make it to the top or just fade away down the leagues. SOD plays good football, so should suit him and if he gets the best out of him, you've got yourself a hell of a player, I just hope we will get a % of his next transfer fee.

We as Bristol City fans didnt see enough of him as he was brought in as a replacement in advance for one of our players who was expected to head out and the board didnt want to be left short when the transfer window shut. Unfortunately adomah didnt leave and Anderson spent most of his time on the bench until management changes and Adomah went off to the african nations which Anderson came straight in and looked one of our better players. And agreeing above he did have his better games playing more central behind the strikers when the manager decided to tighten the midfield by player 4 central midfielders.

I guess you could say that his style of football is very similar to Joe Cole as he has a high work rate, always looking for space, wants to get forwards and good with the ball at his feet.

Ill be one city fan which will be sad to see him go

    A good deal for you.

Anderson is a good player if fit.

However at least youve got JET off your books.

I cant believe another football league club has signed him.

He has got 12 months on his contract. As you could guess his wages arent cheap so you would probably have to take them all over for a loan move. As for a transfer I think we wouldnt ask for much

One thing I didn't realise until I read the secret footballer, was when a player leaves a club, he is STILL entitled to the rest of his current contract at the club he's leaving UNLESS he puts in a transfer request. Then it's null and void.

So for example, say Cresswell went for £3.5 mill, with NO transfer request persay, then we would be obliged to pay him the rest of his deal upon leaving.

I'd imagine this is negotiable with the club/player etc, and I would imagine this is part of the sticking reason behind many transfers.

I didn't have a clue about this until I read the book, however, it makes perfect sense as to why clubs often force a players hand!
