Would like to think he's be interested in playing for Bruce again so as to get his career back on track.
I agree, just a GK, CM and another ST after Austin and thats our summer sorted however i do feel we should have atleast one forward with PL experience rather than a foreign league gamble. Unless this player from a foreign league is somebody with PL experience i.e. Elmander
You may have a point as far as desire is concerned - but surely no professional footballer in the modern era should look overweight as Austin does on some of the photos and videos of him in a Burnley shirt. That's why I question his professionalism - professionalism and fitness go hand in hand (except where injuries are concerned) in professional sport, surely. I do rate the the lad - he's a poacher and accomplished finisher - the Burnley lads are sad to see him go and reckon he scores 1 in 3 chances and his declining tally since Dyche took over was more to do with the fact he was being asked to play with his back to goal rather than in and around the box - so that fear has been allayed somewhat. He has looked fat at times however - which is the main cause for my concern. As long as we get the best from him it won't be a problem.
From what I saw of the youtube stuff last night, Austin was fat the season before last, but looked pretty lean last season.

So you don't think Dean Windass was professional? There are all kinds of reasons why players look over weight at various times of their careers, only one of them are that they are unprofessional or "Parkinesque" as I prefer to call it!!
Here are various faces of Charlie Austin (courtesy of Rick/@HullCityLive on Twitter) please log in to view this image I'm bored of waiting, in case you didn't notice...
To be fair, I think modern sport has changed significantly in the last 15-20 years, what was and wasn't expected fitness wise then is a world away from now - basically due to the amount of money in the game and the widespread adoption of sports-science. Deano was old-skool. I doubt in his day he would have been considered unprofessional. Nowadays might be a different matter with the increased levels of knowledge in the modern game. Do I think Parkin was unprofessional? Damn right I do. Do I think it is probable Deano would have had longer at the very top level (in his pime) had his fitness been optimised by today's standards? Almost certainly. That way of thinking was not as widespread however 10 years ago. You could argue that modern methods extended his career and made him more effective in his twilight years though. I remember our last promotion season him taking his shirt off and there was not an ounce of flab anywhere. Besides, Deano always had a well-set physique. Austin looks fat sometimes and normal build others, suggesting more of a fluctuation issue. As long as we get the "lean" Austin I'm sure we'll get value from him.
If we have an option for another year in our favour - as I am hoping we have then it probably hasn't been mentioned because it isn't an issue? If he hasn't then we might be waiting for him to prove his fitness first? The last injury seemed to be a strange one.
im getting nervous is austin under the same doctor as me . because i have a nightmare getting a appointment at mine. and right now ive got a twitch
