http://soccerlens.com/liverpool-and-swansea-in-bid-for-gylfi-sigurdsson/111131/ Obviously an excellent player who would fit into the team well - but how much money do we actually have?
Don't get me wrong bony, i think he is very good, but with him playing behind a striker, can't see where he fits in given that's Michus position.
I'd be very surprised if we went for him. He'd prefer Liverpool anyway I think, but would Brendan want him after the indifferent full season he had ?
I thought he did well for spurs after an indifferent start, can't see this one happening but if it did that would mean michu is going to play as a striker, the mind boggles with all the possible combinations doesn't it ?
Gylfi is a great player, but with Michu, Pozuelo and Shelvey all vying for a similar position he would most certainly be an unnecessary luxury. He would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool with Gerrard on his last legs though.
But does he know Laudrup's system? We seem to have an embarrassment of riches in midfield, people who can set up chances, but we need someone to put them away. If we sign your namesake, bony, I still think we need another striker because I do not want to see Michu forced to play up front again. It needn't be another costly marquee signing but Bony (the other one) will need a rest from time to time. Gylfi is a good player but I feel we have more than enough in midfield to give him a miss and concentrate on that second striker.
On reflection you're right , the team / squad has evolved so quickly that it would be like him staring all over again. a second striker would be nice and after reading Huw's quotes today then we're still in the market for one .
I would have loved him to come back. He's a natural back-up for Michu but since JJS and JDG signings and a couple of decent youngsters either signed or comming through, I just don't see where he'd fit in now.
