The Mirror reckons today Bony will become a Jack! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/swansea-transfer-news-wilfried-bony-2037010 Good news if true!
Fingers crossed! I'll be over the moon it we pull it off! Also read Jenkins said it's unlikely we'll sign Gonis as well. He seems to be leaving the door slightly ajar for Gomis. I can't see it happening but can you imagine having Bony and Gomis in the team? That would be epic!
I hope so ! With him michu, jdg, shelvey and Pablo we have goals and plenty of assists in the team. Probably the best time ever to be jack! Really living the dream at the moment!
I didn believe these rags whent they were posting all the garbage about us and our manager and I certainly dont believe what they are saying now. Saying that I do believe he will sign. But only when it is relesed officially by the Swans will I start to get excited about seeing him in a white shirt next year..
So, what will the first eleven look like in September? ...........................Bony Hernandez............Michu.............Routs ...................Canas.........JDG Davies.........Williams.......Chico......Rangel ...........................Vorm Pozuelo Shelvy Dyer Ki Britton Abat Taylor Tremmel Definitely need a back-up striker. Seeing as JDG has played well out wide, a winger is a maybe (unless Dyer is off). Otherwise, we are going to have top class players who are struggling to make the bench.
The article I'm about to write explains a lot about why it took a couple of weeks for this deal to be finalized and will make you go 'really!?': Dutch Newspaper De Telegraaf talked to Huw Jenkins yesterday and the chairman of Swansea City said in an interview that they are close to signing a deal for the transfer of Wilfried Bony. 'We ironed out any obstructions this weekend and we hope that we can start negotiations with Bony as soon as possible'. The deal was stalled because Vitesse set a minimum of 15 million euro's for Bony, however, the agent's office of Bony published a press release on their website two weeks ago stating that a deal was made for 12 million euro's, which is way below the minimum price. Problem was that there was no deal at the time and this severely hampered negotiations. But now there is almost a deal and Jenkins expects that the can put pen to paper around the noon on Monday. Jenkins revealed that the club is paying 16 million euro's(13.76 million pounds) for the player which makes this transfer the biggest in Vitesse Arnhem's history. Nikos Machlas transferred to Ajax for 8.6 million and this summer Chelsea bought Van Ginkel for 8.5 million euro's. So more on this hopefully later on today.
I would go for Britton over JDG and Dyer over Routs, I just think Dyer had a poor season last time out, but when on song is the better player of the 2, although his crossing needs some work
I think jdg stays for me,so does routs. There will be plenty of combinations to mull over through the season that's for sure
Poz might be a good option for JdG. He's a talented playmaker, knows Canas' game well and was fancied as a striker by Barca a couple of seasons ago. If he has that much potential he could be a good back up option to our other strikers.
I agree Ivor, once Bony has signed I think we have enough options of players that can cover more than one role. I do like this set up of having utility players as it gives us so much variation. The excitement fo rthe new season is building up nicely!!
Hopefully if we can pull this one off today then the jigsaw will be almost complete. Can't see Britton and Canas in the same lineup both very similar type of players. We have to have one midfield playmaker in the side. Shelvey or JDG for me, possibly Ki.
As per Vital Football Quote from Huw in Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf: Its also being reported on Talk sport and Sky Sports that a deal is imminent. I my opinion our board are purposely stepping up and out of their comfort zone into unknown territories in the transfer market in an effort to support ML. This deal, in my opinion, is in response to the stance ML took earlier this summer when he sided with us over his long standing agent. ML showed great integrity at that time and I feel this has tweaked this reponse of support from our board. As Terry once said "Ambition is f*ckin critical" and if this deal eventually comes to fruition it will show that both our board and ML share the same ambition for growth and success in the future.
The great thing is that we have sufficient options which will allow alternative tactics for different games. A hypothetical example might be that we are due to play a side, say Chelsea away, that has been scoring for fun. In that case we might well elect to play both Leon and Canas to keep things tight.
Well it would be great if Huw could get one of his targets at least! Laudrup deserves it, and so does Michu after the way he held us in the running after January's exit of Graham, but we really do need to find a way of expediting theses transfers, we are far too slow in general, and it allows the bigger London clubs to have some fun at our expense. I really do think that our board needs to bring in a transfer negotiator who knows the score at this level.........
