No idea where that rumour came from, but every man and his dog jumped onboard that rumour bandwagon. I said about a month ago (pretty sure I was the only one on the whole of not606) who said Suarez didn't have a release clause and no one believed me <whistle>. The club don't have to sell Suarez at any price, if he goes, it's because either we want to get rid or because we value him at the price he goes for - or both.

Well, ****. My day's been ruined now.

If we sell Spearo, the club will surely have another DM lined up as cover for Lucas. Allen and Hendo aren't capable enough in that role. No idea who though, links have been quiet for that position.

  2. There were loads of us saying it <whistle>

Sissoko would have been nice but he went to Newcastle in January. Bluff has been suggesting someone all summer too, can't remember his name at minute though.

Think we need an actual replacement for Suarez, whilst I think Coutinho is great, he doesn't seem like a natural goal scorer (I know people said that about Suarez too but look at his goal scoring record, it's pretty clear that he is)

Coutinho is great for his flair and creativity, but someone needs to be putting them away. Are Sturridge and Aspas good enough to put away the chances? I don't know, I'd rather we got another forward rather than balls it up and we end up having to wait till January because we have no strikers cause Sturridge is injured and Aspas and Borini can't score for ****.

Or if he forces his way out which considering all he has done in the past, I wouldn't put passed him.

Real haven't actually shown much interest in Suarez, they have several targets they're chasing as a higher priority. Most the stories have been from Luis' end. He's tied down to a long contract and we don't have to sell. If he refuses to play, he's in breach of contract and harms himself long term in trying to angle a move elsewhere given he'd then have the whole collection of negatives.

I think the club are still in the driving seat but I think Suarez will still be off if we can find two suitable replacements first. With Mkhitaryan probably off elsewhere, this story might run on alot longer...

  6. I said Suarez isn't a natural goalscorer and I still stand by that despite him bagging thirty last year. He isn't for the same reason I would argue with anyone until I am blue in the face that Andy Cole wasn't a natural goalscorer; far too many chances needed before he scores, poor shots to goals ratio. A natural goalscorer such as Fowler, Phillips, Shearer, etc don't need a bag of chances before scoring, they need one or two!

I agree with the rest mind but then, I think we need another goal scorer whether Suarez leaves or not because we can't rely on Sturridge! Hence me saying use the money to improve the squad.

  7. Impossible. He has three years left on his contract and he can sulk all he wants, the club have to give their blessing for him to leave.

That's fair enough, but I can't see Coutinho scoring 30 odd goals next season, so like you say, we need someone else regardless of whether Suarez stays or not.

Sturridge, Suarez, Aspas, and one other should be our strikers. Borini can play there if need be, and like you say, if Suarez goes then reinvest the money into the squad to get us not one, but two forwards.

It would be nice if Liverpool took a stand should he start forcing a move. The problem is simply he could well be a negative influence in the dressing room. Bilbao took a stand against Llorente and that went tits up for them, don't see Lewandowski getting too many friendly looks at Dortmund either. As much as people hate to say it, in modern football it is the players that call the shots at the end of the day.

That being said there is no chance of us getting him and a tiny (at best) chance of somebody like Chelsea getting him. I reckon he will end up at Madrid, it looks like they are going to lose out on Cavani to PSG.

  10. Suarez isn't the sort to mope and sulk. He'll just get on with it. However, he does have previously going awol to force a move (to Ajax) so...

Off the top of my head, Real's top targets are Cavani, Bale, Aguero and Jovetic - all before they make official moves for Suarez. There may well be more targets, not sure, but those 4 are certain.

I think Luis may have to suck it up and stay another season unless PSG or Juve come in for him; and Juve can't afford him/dont' want to pay our asking price.

Cavani, Bale and Aguero are not gonna happen and Jovetic is pants, Suarez is 10 times the player he is. I expect Madrid to start tapping him up soon, as per usual with their targets as the Confeds are now over and he should return to Merseyside soon.

Not seen Jovetic, can't really comment on that.

We'll soon find out, I guess. Real, as of yet, haven't shown their hand or indeed that they're serious enough to place a bid. Will be a long summer

If I was an Arsenal fan I'd be furious with all these bids on players they have no intention of getting. Trying to mislead the fans by pretending they are ready to buy big when they aren't.

Reina, Mata, Gotze & now Suarez. Laughable stuff from the Arsenal board. Will they bid for Messi or Ronaldo next?

Tried explaining this on the Arsenal board and some posters started saying I was wumming and should be banned. It is amazing how many people are oblivious to what is really going on at the club.

Chelsea could swoop for one of Liverpool's prime targets, Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago llori, the Mirror says. The Reds have had two bids for llori rejected, with both offers believed to be less than Sporting's £8.5 million valuation. Now Jose Mourinho is expected to make a move for the 20-year-old, with a bid around the £7.5 million mark. While Sporting may be open to reducing their demand for the Blues, llori is unlikely to leave Portugal unless he is promised first team football - something which may give Liverpool an advantage.

if they do they do..... whats important is players are a dime a dozen... they come and go but the clubs moeny is limited therefore precious. if we can get the right deal at the right price we go do it otherwise if some ass wants to go bench warms at chavland fine. another bullet dodged.

Not too fussed about Ilori - if we get him, then great. If not, I won't bat an eyelid.

We still need 1 or 2 big players to come in this summer though.
