I saw him at Murrays match. I have to say Fergie has one of the most "special" claps I've ever witnessed outside of Puddysburn.

Don't understand the hate for Murray at all. He's a ridiculously talented professional athlete who is maybe a bit uncomfortable with the limelight so he comes off as a bit dour and uninterested. Seems like a good guy to me and I will definitely be cheering him on today.

Also I'm pretty sure Alex Ferguson has had a number of conversations with Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher over the years. Does that make them awful people too?

(Wasn't sure how serious this article is, but nevertheless the Murray-bashing winds me up)

murray is a bit of a cock... lets face it anyone rich enough to be playing tennis for an early age and be put through all those academies and coaches.........

more importantly i think we will see ferguson becoming a professional hanger on in the near future. his antics on rock of Gibraltar means that john terry has a new rival for his ongoing sage of appearing at very victory celebration on the globe.... i'm sure the ould fella will be there on final day and i guess he'll be on free tickets too boot.

  11. Murray is a cock but then, so are a lot of footballers that we admire. He's a professional tennis player, not a presenter or pundit!

Mweh, I actually like Murray. I like watching tennis and was sick to death of British players (yes he's both Scottish & British because HE considers himself so) turning up, losing and doing the smiley "just glad to be here " interview afterward. That's not sport. So a guy that's aggressive & sets himself the highest standards in his sport has my respect.

Money apparently didn't protect him & his friends in childhood from tragedy anymore than it protected working class football fans. I don't expect him to switch himself on the back, smiling everytime he wins and yell how lucky & undeserving he is due to his background.

On personality He's no more dour than our own Kenny and from reports is a perfectly reasonable bloke like Kenny away from the media. I think he's attempted to develop his relationship with the crowd and its helped his game along with the ridiculous training regime.

I'll forgive he likes Fergie; can't be perfect lol.

And just as I thought we were starting to get on MITO you say something as ridiculous as that. How does being born into wealth make you a cock? Surely that is just as stupid and discriminatory as saying all working class people are plebs?

Murray's bloody talented, absolutely no denying that.

He's also a dull, boring, graceless and uninspiring moody twat.

I choose to dislike him, but couldn't care less if he wins.

My opinion of Murray changed last year after the Wimbledon final when he showed a bit of emotion so came across [to me at least] as a bit more 'real' and a bit more likeable. Having said that, he is very aloof, annoying fist pumps and zero personality at interview.

I don't think there are too many working class heroes amongst the tennis brigade but it's not a reason to be hating on them ... mito <whistle>

Can anyone use that Photoshop contraption to superimpose Howard Webb's head onto an umpire sitting on one of those high-chair thingies?

What's odd is that of the 16 "personalities" the BBC interviewed, 12 said Murray would win, 3 said Djokovic would win. One couldn't say.

It's a bit odd, given that Djokovic is world number one and has been for a long time, has won 6 majors, has an impressive record against both Nadal and Federer, and is the clear favourite. Home court advantage is basically nothing in tennis. It's such a detached sport from it's fans that it doesn't really matter where it's being held. But clearly since Andy is Scottish/British whatever, he's got to be the clear favourite.

  19. The other has home advantage. Clearly a benefit to football teams so why wouldn't it have an effect in tennis? Also, I reckon the BBC and their pundits would be in for a hell of a lot more stick if they said Djokovic would win, the pundits would get into trouble too since they'd be basically telling viewers not to bother.
