the thing is we simply do not know about this was it 20mil we bid or did we bid formally at all. just cos it went quiet doesn't mean things one way or the other. what yuo've said here is we might have been close to bidding... or not... and we didn't bid what shaktar wanted. for this i say fair play to EVERYONE at the club, not ayre. over paying = stupidity period.

I think if you've an issue with the pic on the day a guy gets signed then fair enough, but i can equally say i've an issue with him using bic pens in the photos. Its in my opinion no basis for talking down the guy who's done far more than anyone else to save the bloody club seeing purslow went about running it like his plaything and broughton was only in for a sale that then it happened infuriated the yanks. Ian ayre is owed a debt of thanks from all LFC fans IMO. the work he's done along with so many others to turn us from a basket case in the past old folks association into a modern BUSINESS that can survive is something i think not paying 4-5million over the vlaue of a player should take the gloss off.

i nthe end guys eriksen was a rumour i heard but was scotched by RHC so if it comes back i think behind the scenes LFC must have changed their minds on this Mkhitaryan guy...... for me i think the minute a guy pulls a stunt like not going to preseason camp i would think hard about is he right for us.... this could still all be just a staring match and shaktar pulling every trick in the book to try and extract the extra cash and we might let this run til augist... who knows cos we sure as hell don't and neither do the press.

If he does go to dortmund then fine.

  3. RHC's link is good but he's got things wrong before (Ince for example). Its not his fault mind, he will only know what he's been told and even then it is only intentions from the club.

I'd love us to get Eriksen but I'm greedy and want both him and Henri Ryan. Same goes for Alder (ball player) and Papa (good in air) <laugh>

PS...didn't he say Robben at the start of the summer too?

BBC are saying the transfer fee to Dortmund is £21.5m (maybe not accurate)
but if it is accurate other things have come into play here IF we had offered £20m.

    Who knows,maybe we've dodged a bullet here.

  6. As I said, he was probably delaying it himself to keep his options open, there is plenty of summer left yet.

  7. This is from the BBC website:

I know the BBC aren't the most reliable but note the bit in red <ok>

Like I said, he probably turned us down to talk to Dortmund. Don't blame him.
Didn't know anything about him, but as they rate him, maybe we are missing out.

  9. Taking our Liverpool favouritism out of the equation, who here would pick the current Liverpool over the current Dortmund?

We are clearly a level (or two) below Dortmund from a football quality POV,
but many things can come into play when a player is choosing A,B or C.

By the way, I love the way the BBC managed to make it "Rogers" target 4 times in that.....now that its failed.

Sorry but here's a few facts:

A vast Majority of LFC fans had never heard or saw very little of mKhart..mickyhit....muckeyhiton..before ....well a month ago.

Not once in any of the reports when we were in the "running" was Rogers name mentioned, nor quoted.

We're not in the champions league.

    Micky already was.

    Now he still is.

    We're not.

Now a bit of opinion. If we hope that lessons were learned from last year do we all think there was more than one name on list just in case 5 days into the transfer window the 1st target was missed?

I use to do this in my twenties all the time. Just hope for the 10pm girl not the 12am girl <ok>

We're just not at the snap your fingers and get the threesome yet....

When will be at the snap your fingers and get a threesome stage? Giz a rough idea and I'll pop back then <whistle>

Safe to say we were interested in this fella (the link to Sakho was dismissed quickly enough) but he's gone to a club who can offer him more. Like you DF I like to think we have a longer list than 1 player.

While we aren't offering CL footy we're going to lose out on plenty of targets. This is why we have scouts surely. Of course it makes the job harder but plenty more fish in the sea and all that.

He may turn into a great player for Dortmund in which case we'll have missed out but people need to get used to the fact we'll miss out on others too.....unless of course people think we should keep throwing Mandy sized cheques at every player with one good season under their belt.

Good luck to the lad (whoever he is)......now...anyone got Eriksens number? <laugh>

look guys i'll be annoying here again.

    1. time to wake the F up. there are way to many lfc fans running around thinking we are a huge club when patently we are not. realise we are not and yo have two choices... accept mid table ****e or get angry and demand better. I demand we get back to the top but i relise we can't compete on every player so when i saw us go for carroll or downing or adam i was furious in each case. This is why i don't rate our new guys unitl they show me something to rate them on and frankly why i am on the fence with rodgers. He's better start delivering as i outlined earlier i nthe week. I don't ask for much but doing the job properly.

    2. lets look at suarez. I think we got him cos no one else wanted him frankly. I would be shocked if even with 30 goals in his pocket in england people really want him. His antics are awful. Real?? I won't beleive it til a bid comes. I would wish for a psg or monaco type club to come over pay for him. Did we benefit long terms from having this guy? no we didn't... his antics were a burden.

    3. Mkhitaryan, if he played the waiting game for the biggest bid... fine but thats one mercenary we don't need then. we want the guy who's hungry for success and at least sees us as a platform to progress from if nothing else..... I for one see coutiho and sturridge as looking to play and wanting to prove themselves at a high level, but do they believe the bollox about big club or would they have gone to southampton just as quick for the shop window? we still have a gloss over them but for how long? We in my view have a season or two to get back to where we need to be or we will be looking at dropping down to everton status

You'll have to try harder at being annoying, mito.
That's only a less polite version of what many of us have been saying for a while now.

  18. If you was to bump into Ian Ayre and ask him a question, I'd bet my last nugget that his response would be "you never know". Its not saying yes and its not saying no, its sitting on the fence avoiding a reaction.
