Although all of uncomplaining will achieve not a lot, just seen the new Adidas ACMilan kit (see link below)more evidence (if any were needed) to show that I thick we really have been swindled by this company. The top clubs in Chelsea, Real Madrid and ac Milan get some form of exclusivity on their designs, where we have to tolerate that shared monstrosity...... So close to having a very nice kit..... Such a shame....

As far as football shirts go, think this is the best I've seen in a long time:

    Nice shirt.

Nike seem to be the only company producing consistently nice kits at the moment.

Someone at the pub where I was wearing Wimbledon was wearing the new Southampton shirt. It certainly doesn't look any better in real life. Wtf is with the sleves? It looks like a messed up Arsenal shirt or something.

Who ever thought this was a good design just doesn't understand football fans. I wouldn't wear it let alone buy it even at £13.

Not a lot of revenue from shirt sales this year then.

It's a point to think about with the new kit. One I hadn't really thought about till I went to see it in the flesh today.

My general opinion is that I love the socks but hate the shirt and shorts. I went onto soton including west quay for thebest part of three hours and only saw one new saints shirt. But plenty of old ones. So I went to see it to see what the fuss was about. Whilst only in the west quay shop for maximum 4 minutes.... I heard two sets of parents make very negative comments about the price, etc and that they wouldn't be buying it this year. Whilst that's no MORI poll, it does serve as a timely reminder that the club need to keep the fans reasonably happy if they want the coffers ticking over...

Hopefully, NC will already know that it's not been well received and be slightly less extreme next year.

Apart from the hankies, I don't think it was an extreme kit. Can hardly call red with Adidas stripes extreme. Gold finish may not suit some. The price is a concern, but I suspect Adidas called the tune on that one.

Hmmm.... The red doesn't seem very "Saints red"..... To light I think.... Maybe extreme is the wrong word to use. Whilst I accept that Adidas will call most of the shots on price, it would seem remiss of NC to treat the price that Adidas are going charge the paying public as an after thought.

My only real problem with the kit is the hankies on the sleeves. When we played Stoke at the end of the season, and they were in their Away kit, complete with flapping sleeves, I thought how awful they looked. Then someone mentioned that our new kit might come from the same template and my expectations went into steep decline. Take away the white flappy bits and the kit is entirely bearable. The gold lettering is tacky but I could stomach that. I could even manage to look at the socks without vomiting.

Hull, with a new adidas shirt (and a better one than ours) are charging fans £40 for adult shirts and £30 for kids.

So it would seem clubs do have a say in the price. But I guess we have to remember that we live in the south and we are all rich bastards. Every single one of us. Not a poor person in the area, not one.

Hang on a minute you have forgotten about me. State pension and £127 in the Post office to live on and all the young Tories wishing I was dead so that the Chancellor could save on my bus pass and free TV licence.

The Tories might wish you were dead, but they're so afraid of pissing pensioners off (massive voting force) that they won't ever try and take anything from them. The young and the unemployed can take the brunt of the budget cuts because they weren't going to vote Tory anyway.

If Adidas sell the shirts to the club for resale to the punters, Adidas cannot fix that resale price, that would be illegal (and competition authorities keep their eye on replica shirts as they are such a rip off) so I suspect that the clubs "Marketing" department has determined that 50 quid or whatever is the best price at which they can sell them. Enjoy...

No, but Adidas set the cost price. However, although we might pay more per item than a top club based on size of ordering, I can't see us being charged more than Hull. Price is too high.

Adidas will set a suggested price and the clubs (or other stockists) can set the actual price. Hull are a bit of an outlier I think, the majority of Premier League shirts cost £45-£50.
