Murray aces it and wins the third set 6-4.

    2-1 to Murray.

Can anyone explain to a tennis noob, what is the big deal with this roof thing and why do the players care?

The roof will come across and supply artificial light. Janowicz has been calling for it for the last forty minutes.

Andy is on a bit of a roll, having won 5 games in a row and coming back from 1-4 to win 6-4. Andy now faces having to go back and sit in the dressing room for a sustained period, destroying his momentum.

There's meant to be another 45-50 minutes of natural sun light. Janowicz says it's too dark, Murray says it is not.

It also changes the conditions. Takes wind out of the equation. Apparently slows the court down a bit.

Murray has won this, but can't see him winning the final.

Centre court has a roof similar to the Millennium Stadium. It takes 20 minutes to close it and do something to the air (air conditioning?). The momentum is with Murray at the moment and his opponent is starting to look a little tired to me. He now gets a break to cool down, regroup and start again.

Correct decision in my opinion. If you can't be pretty certain of completing the full set under natural light, then the roof should be closed before starting the set. Better that, than interrupting a set.

Not sure that wind has been a factor in this game so far, so removing wind from the equation (through closing thr roof) shouldn't have any impact. The only impact is the potential loss of Murray's momentum.

As well as the wind, it also affects the conditioning of the ground underfoot and how the ball will start to play.

    Janowicz will much prefer that.

Cheers lads. Seems like Jerzy might have influenced the decision a bit there, but hey ho.

Janowicz has physical advantages and a good 1st and 2nd serve, but he is a good player on top of that. Think we will see a lot more of him. Hope the break hasn't affected Andy's momentum.

Probably the first time a Scotsman has complained about a Friday night lock-in.

My stomach is already in all sorts of knots. Sounds like a very tough wicket when the slower bowlers are bowling. Praying that Carberry doesn't get out any time soon.

Actually I do, and I said it at the time. It had rained the day before and there was light drizzle in the morning of the game. That could have made the pitch a little slippier and there is no way the gooners would have been able to cope with Paul Telfer's trickery in those conditions.

I remember the Australian cricket team all coming out in sunglasses a few years ago when their opponents were complaining about the light. Would have been brilliant if Murray had pulled a pair of shades out of his bag and put them on!

During the 2005 Ashes, if my memory serves me right. Orchestrated by Shane Warne, obviously.

Murray's got this in the bag as long as he keeps a cool temperament...i think that the slow court might suit him.... just hope Janowicz keeps on with the drop shots..Murray has got his number on them.
