Well Helsinki will never be in the final for a start. And if you ask fans in this country whether the fa cup is a big trophy then most would say it was. Not as big as PL or CL but still a big trophy. The FA cup has been screened worldwide for years. It is important to the vast majority of ENGLISH football fans. I wouldn't expect you to understand that as you're not an English football fan. Classing my country's cup doesn'make me thick. However, making comments on something you don't understand makes you pretty ignorant.
As for you only being interested in the cup final if your team was in it, how the hell are Helsinki ever going to be in it? Idiot.

He does not speak for us, thanks all the same.

You really should get your facts correct before spouting the usual Chelsea ****e.
United as a football club did not decide by themselves to 'abandon' the FA cup. It was under pressure and duress from both the FA themselves and, unbelievably, the government, to take part in this inaugural CWC.
It was done with reluctance, but that doesn't fit with your story does it, you know the one where Manchester United killed the FA cup?

Other that that, I happen to agree with what you're saying about the FA cup and both Sisu and Shwan are talking ****e. As usual.

    Well....

454million people watched the 2005 FA Cup final. 454million worldwide. Thats a massive portion of football fans around the world.

As its 2013 it is possible the viewing figures increased year on year. Last years final ( City V Stoke ) attracted a higher number of viewers than the Champions League final.

Fair enough but you could have taken part. Didn't say you killed it. No team is bigger than the tournament. I thought you disrespected it.

The FA thought the CWC ( shouldnt call it this really, Cup Winners Cup is what the CWC stands for imo ) would become some major competition down the line so insisted we take part.

We were **** as well, it was about 5000 degrees C which didnt help.

If you read David Davies (then FA chairman's) book, then it becomes pretty clear we couldn't have taken part. The FA were determined we go to the Club World Cup to avoid pissing off FIFA and risking us losing the bid for the 2006 WC. We were basically told that if we didn't go to the CWC then we would be publicly blamed for causing England's 2006 WC bid to fail, and that we couldn't have a bye or play a second string team in the third round.

So we were damned if we did and damned if we didn't. Either way we would have disrespected something, either the FA Cup or the whole of England.

The fact the useless FA then went and ****ed up the 2006 bid despite our best efforts is just icing on the cake.

For what it's worth I agree with you about the FA Cup. Not as big as the PL or CL, but definitely close behind. And definitely ahead of the EL and all the rest. If anything, it's the expansion of the CL that has devalued the FA Cup with the knockout rounds often overlapping and the best clubs having to fit their teams around it and the league.

those figures are not real , it is FA estimations, exaggeration the figures trying to have better deals for its competitions
trust me, have lots of friends who watch football around the world, and although those game are shown in TV, few people around the world do watch them
i myself forget who win it last season, was it Swansea or Wigan? and i didn't watched neither finals too for the record
actually i read somewhere that in last 5 years, there was a drop in people who watch it in UK itself from 12m to 9m

    The TV figures are accurate.

What they dont tell you is the other 100million or so who watched via illegal streams.

here is FA cup finals audience in past years in UK
    2013 11m
    2012 11m
    2011 6m
    2010 7m
    2009 5m
    2008 7m
    2007 11m

the news about dropping was after City X stoke match, seem it picked up since, and seem viewers increase & decrease based on who is playing in the final..
and tbh the audience is not that different from League cup, in 2012 , the final of league cup was watched by 10m
so it is more about the clubs and who is playing not the competition itself

Its pretty hard to call how many people are in a house, they tend to work off an agree'd average number of inhabitants per home with TV's.

tbh they tend to work out on exaggerated number to boost the TV rights of the competition .. you can know how much FA are accurate on those numbers when FA estimated 484m people will watch the FA final compared to UEFA estimating 360m had watched last season CL !!!

the accurate ones are those figures published by ITV or BBC bcz i think there is already a built audience measurement systems which work on sample of people and monitoring what they watch every minute, (as in the figures above for past 7 years)

the figures actually says that FA cup final had 8.5m in average in past 7 years , Liverpool managed to get 10m in 2012 league cup final ..
