Now it has been almost 6 weeks in pursuit of strengthening our forward line, but to date we have signed not one decent striker! with Gomis in a row with his club Lyon over being forced out, and Bony dragging his feet over personal terms, and Chadli from FC twenty now reported to be unsure, with Jenkins confirming that Chadli is weighing up his options and an agreement remains way off at this stage, so what now?

How come Cardiff have no trouble signing a striker? and why are we flooded with 13 mid-fielders? surely if we could cut this number down to 10 at least, then maybe we could push the boat out on completing a striker deal, clearly we are not providing an attractive enough package for these players we are after.

We are already out in Holland on pre-season training, and the Striker deal should have been sorted before this, so with no success on bringing in a striker, what next? How about Cyril the swan up front Huw? complete farce in my view, as usual, surely it's time for the club to get a more professional negotiator in the transfer market, as good old Huw is clearly out of his depth.

If Jenkins cannot sell our club, with Laudrup in charge, and 9th finish and cup last season, then step down son, and give the job to someone that can, stay in the boardroom, and count the pennies mate!................<ok>

Calm down Phil. Striker is the key position and it is probable agents/clubs are waiting for the highest bidder thus stalling deals <ok>

    Have faith ;)

I thought I read today that personal terms with Bony have been agreed, but the club want as much money as possible. We have signed a lot of players this past week, so obviously Huw Jenkins and the board are doing something right. Once we get a striker or two in, our squad will be ready to take on all challenges next season.

Just a little bit of patience is needed as the remaining players we need will come in eventually..

**** me it's gonna be carnage on here later when the PC brigade show up!...<laugh>

As I mentioned on a few threads now,we are most players 3rd choice and until other bigger clubs get their 1st choice players done it will remain that way.

The likes of gomis, bony and the lad from twente may well be a second or third choice for bigger teams, I guess it's normal to wait a bit as we are offering nothing special in terms of financial package, I'm hopeful that we will land our targets.

For some reason I'm still hopeful of us getting negredo! I just think we are especially appealing for Spanish players, when it comes to anybody outside of Spain we seem to be well down in the pecking order.

I did mention on another thread that we have so far signed what we expected to sign, that is cheap Spanish players at prices our club are comfortable with, the top players will be difficult to get for sure but I am hopeful, the last thing we want though is for this to drag on and on.

Most of our targets have been on the laudrup/Larsen radar for a while so it should be possible to get something done reasonably soon, we are at the mercy of the bigger teams right now and until they are done it will be hard work.

    ;)

If they don't want to sign for us on our wage structure, then cheerio.

Am sure the latest report was that talks with Bony's club was the issue.

The others are not even attempting to talk to us, Gomis has already admitted that the package we are offering is better than that at Lyon, what else can Jenkins do to get your approval?

Read about him last night, Man City are looking at him, and they mentioned he was being valued at 24m. Would love him here, but not at that price.

That's an original one, not! so it's an automatic given then, that if we pay the going rate for one position on the field, that is critical to the game, that we are doomed to bankrupcy and admin? how does that work, please enlighten me!..................<laugh>

No chance of this happening. The papers over here yesterday were speculating that Man City will pay around the £20million mark for him <yikes>

Negredo was being touted for 12m euro last I heard, that's just man city's price! It's always double when them and Liverpool roll into town! ;)

Negredo is a dream signing I must admit.

Bony - As said, last I heard it was issues between the clubs, not the player stalling this one
Gomis - offered more than his current deal, but doesn't want to leave Lyon
Chadli - Waiting to see if a bigger club comes in.

So where are we not showing we can pay the going rate?

Paying the going rate is a problem for us, don't be surprised if we have to sell to balance the books ;)

I do know that the plan was to leave on tour with all targets sorted out, it will hamper us working on movement with no striker to learn our system of play.

Negredo and David villa will do !

Any striker would be a dream signing, at this moment in time, can see us recalling Luke Moore for the start of the season, maybe we'll get the shec back on loan too! Hell what a bloody farce................<laugh>

Haggling over a million pounds or so is important but when you consider that it just alerts everyone else it becomes a bit futile I think, just as well secure one and haggle on the others, least we then have something.

Things seem to have changed with bony since west ham entered the race .

Didn't someone say Moore has an injury therefore didn't travel?
