It has now been officially confirmed that PEA has signed for Dortmund. So we turn to striker number 2,3 or whoever is the cheapest.
I have never been so disillusioned with what is happenening at our club. We seem to do all our talking in the press which alerts other clubs. Remember Cisse, nothing mentioned bang he had signed. We chase after PEA for allegedly 18 months, even Ashley goes to see him and he goes elsewhere.
Everyone knows the squad was too small last season, but the logic seems to be no Europa cup so it will be big enough this year.
I can see more players leaving than we sign. Cabaye, Marveaux could be the first to go.
Cannot believe Pardew only back today. What a farce. Ashley is taking the P and there is nothing anyone can do.

I live in hope that we sign someone good who hasn't been linked before like the cabeye signing but I think we'll be highly disappointed and get the usual spiel of "couldn't get them over the line"

Just like we wont be able to get the ball over the line without a new striker.

In fairness to the Club where have we ever discussed any of our targets?

In fact isn't that one of the many gripes with the Club, namely that the Club never tell anyone what is happening.

I know the Club has a lot of faults but in all honesty talking about transfer targets in the press is not one of them.

    And..... Carroll, Bony, Gomis, Ideye.
Have l forgotten anyone else. If Kone does not fit the Newcastle "blue print" whatever that is, then how could Darren Bent ?
It's getting beyond a joke now.

They wouldn't offer me a contract and I only wanted £30k a week.

It may be they've figured that it's a seller's market currently what with the widely publicised new TV money coming in, and clubs feeling the need to spend to survive. So they've decided to keep the tight fisted policy in place from previous transfer windows.

However, if that is true then I would wholeheartedly predict relegation as a probability rather than a possiblility for next season. We were saved this year by other clubs' poor decision making and general poor form at Reading and QPR. That will not be the case this season as shown by the insightful signings going on in mid-table. In my opinion, we will be found wanting if we don't strengthen, and other clubs will be banking on us imploding and going down just like we did last season with QPR.

To be fair, a great move for him and them. Just the way it goes. I'm loathe to over-criticise the club over PEA because we have direct knowledge of whether we lodged bids etc etc. If we were in then I wouldn't criticise them for aiming high and if we were gazumped then I think you just have to accept that as part and parcel of football.

Hopefully we will see some action. Remember everyone was all over them like a rash just prior to January and they shut everyone up then. So I think we just have to wait and see.

As for Pards only being back today, many managers are yet to return or only returned to work yesterday, standard practice really. As for Cabaye and Marveaux, I thought Marveaux was making noises he wants to stay? Cabaye is a unique case, we could have finished top 6 last season and it may not have any bearing on his situ. He has potentially life changing moves being rumoured which would result in a departure regardless.

We were here before Ashley, we'll be here after Ashley. If the worst happens we'll regroup, rebuild and conquer.

The one positive thing at the moment is that HBA has said he is happy to stay and that he is ready to negotiate a new contract or extension. If this is accurate then hopefully they will get him nicely tucked away pretty damn quick, which for me will at least be one step in the right direction.
As far as Cabaye is concerned, my thoughts are that his love affair with Le Toon is on the wane, he is a brilliant footballer on his day, but also showed another side to both his personality and his temperament that l did not much care for.
Towards the end of the season, l felt he may as well of put a For sale sign on his back, as he seemed completely fed up and disinterested. Perhaps the slog that is NUFC is too much for him and he needs more finesse.
Either way if the price is good, then l think we are better off without him, that said l would worry that his fee would not be re-invested in the squad, and that would cause problems and weaknesses.
