QPR have offered their star striker Loic Remy to Newcastle.

    Loic Remy, QPRABOVE:

The France international signed for the R's in January for a club-record fee of £8m but was unable to keep them in the Premier League.

Newcastle were in for him then but were unable to match the wages QPR were handing out.

Now they have been given a second chance to sign the frontman, although it's unlikely they will take up the offer, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.

And it's understood that Arsenal and Liverpool would have been given the same chance to sign the frontman.

Reports suggest QPR are trying to offload their high-earning ace and that he's been offered to a number of clubs in the Premier League and abroad.

Signing a striker is a priority for Newcastle and they were interested in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - but he joined Borussia Dortmund yesterday.

Remy has a £6.8m release clause in his current deal with Rangers and isn't keen on playing in the Championship.

Like Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool are unlikely to make a bid.

The Gunners are set to land Gonzalo Higuain while Brendan Rodgers has signed attacking threats Phillipe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto since his initial interest.

I hope he doesn't go, a least until January, if he could score 12 - 15 for us by then it would put us in a great position

I just don't get this - who would buy him with his rape allegation hanging over him? Unless we offer a cash back deal if he's unavailable due to trial/ conviction......

In my opinion, I would keep him at all costs. His wages and what we payed for him will be payed back if he helps us get promotion.

Sorry, if he's convicted of rape (not saying he will be) I don't care if he's Pele, I won't want him at the club.

Of course. I'm going on the basis of him being innocent.

The article is pure speculation as far as I can see.

There's not a single quote or source to back it up. They've just put several well known facts together (i.e. that Newcastle tried to sign him before, are still in the prem and looking to strengthen their striking options, and we've just been relegated and are looking to offload some high-earners) and have come up with their own speculative conclusion. I don't believe a word of it, especially with the allegation hanging over him.

Agree, but I'm hoping we can take this strong moral stance after he's helped us back to the Prem! Seriously, I had big problems when there was talk that NW might bring Marlon King to the club, so the same applies to Remy. I hope it doesn't come to that

I'm highly doubtful Remy will leave this transfer window. Providing he's proven innocent both TF and Redknapp should tell him to keep his head down, put away as many goals as he can until Christmas and then discuss a move in January when his name is in the frame again. It's the best situation for the player and our club with respect to his ambitions and us recouping a respectable transfer fee when teams get desperate in January.

It's unlikely he'll move before the trial so that may be to our advantage short term, but if convicted there would be no alternative but to terminate his contract. That would then leave us short upfront again, possibly at a crucial point of the season, not an ideal scenario...

Now that really would be desperation. He's a risk for anybody. How can it make sense for us to offer a cash back deal? Hang on a minute. I see where you're comin from. It doesn't. We can see that. Any sane, prudent, commerically aware person can. Even Phil Beard. Ah yes. That's the weak link.
