South American press reporting that Damião's agent, Jorge Machado, sent representatives to Southampton to find out about the area and the club a couple of weeks ago.

Spurs deal is off due to the instalment plan not being in the interest of Internacional and therefore Saints is his main focus now. He still has 30% ownership from a third party though, I think this is Santa Catarina.

If we could sign at least 1 out of the three of Banega, Damiao or Wanyama. Maybe the other two would follow?

To be fair the Spurs fans in the office would be happy to be done with the saga, its dragged on for a long time and has been 'close' to completion on numerous occasions. It's not that they don't want to sign him its just that they don't want to spend another transfer window chasing him.

 

Been through all this with Ramirez. What is it with these players?

 

After what happened with the Ramirez deal all these transfers could drag on and on. I'm happy to wait as I know we have the money to spend, we just need to strike the right deal for us Saints.

 

It's all part of entertainment package we pay enough as it is, so it's got to keep us distracted until the football season starts!

 

As I've mentioned before, I would just love a player to say that he wants to play for Saints when asked, bag of swag handed over, and he turns up for training the next day. Dream on!

I think it is safe to assume that the more 'big stars' we get in through the door, the easier it becomes to attract more of them.

On Echo site, the fringe players have been released, so they can move to another club without a fee. Makes sense as they will be able to negotiate better deals. Also says that if they don't find another club, they will be allowed back into to train and keep fit. Nigel said players that aren't playing take up more time than the happy ones so this makes sense. Just having them around takes up someone's time, even Mauricio's. Best for everyone all round...these players know they won't feature...better for them to have a chance at another club.

Having discruntled players hanging around with the first team when you are trying to motivate them for the forthcoming season could have a massive negative impact. I wouldn't label either player as negative or disruptive but if they have been told they are not involved in the clubs future in any way they may become disruptive.

I understand it completely, the pair of them must have realised long ago that they were not going to play for the first team again and really should have been engineering moves for themselves. If they want to play first team football. Both could walk into many NPC clubs. Unless the higher salary here is a factor in them staying?

I have sympathy for both but as stated above its in everybody's interest and in particular for their careers if they move on. Feel bad for billy as he moved here and helped in the promotion push but never got a chance. But then he only joined in Jan when we were looking dead certs to go up didn't he? Wasn't interested in joining when we were newly promoted to NPC was he? People forget that, players are out for themselves just as much as the club.

 

Not been released, as they're still with the club. Don't agree that they're not training personally, even if its the U21s.

 

I think its the Football Manager equivalent of 'Willing to listen to any offers'.

 

As I said before if you think that is a problem there are ways of keeping them separate from the other players. In reality footballers don't spend that much of their time training so they might even be able to come in at a different time of day. No doubt they also still have friends at the club so they could still disrupt individuals anyway.

I don't particularly feel sorry for them as footballers, although I think Sharp got a rough deal.
