Leroy Fer, Naughton (therey freeing up Martin as a CB when required), Hooper and we are good to go for next season IMO. Keep hold of Ruddy and set sail! Van Ginkel and Schurrle look like 2 top signings for Chelsea. Add in Coentrao, Varane (or similar - marquee signing), De Rossi (available for peanuts) and Sneijder (available for even less peanuts) and they will storm the PL title. Just imagine: Torres Hazard-Sneijder-Mata-Oscar De Rossi Cole-Varane-Ivanovic-Azpil Cech OMG their bench! 1. GK, 2. Coentrao/Luiz, 3. Cahill/Terry, 5. Ramires/Moses, 4. Lampard/Essien 5. Van Ginkel, 6. Lukaku, 7. Schurrle Mind you...we wouldn't look half bad either! Ruddy Whittaker-Turner-Bassong-Naughton Snodgrass-Fer-Hoolahan-Pilkington RvW-Hooper Our bench: 1) Bunn, 2) Martin/Garrido, 3) R Bennett/Barnett/Ayala 4) Johnson/Tettey/Fox, 5) Howson/Surman/Butterfield, 6) Redmond/E Bennett, 7) Holt/Becchio
What was Supers saying earlier about us appearing to go off Hooper, leaking a couple of names to the press, and then going back for Hooper? Hmmm....
CH & DM are definitely 'aiming a bit higher' this season, but still being sensible with the money they're spending. I'd be astounded if this one came off though!!!!!
Comment from a Blues fan "Norwich have just got bargain of the century as you stood head & shoulders above the rest in the England U21s at the euros including Zaha (15 mill) & Ince (reported 10mill)" I DO believe we have got a bargain and CH is beginning to assemble an excellent squad without endangering the club financially!!!
Slightly off topic for the recent discussion and I am taking this back to Hooper. I watched some highlight clips of him last night and there wasnt as many tap ins as I had naively believed. There were some really good finishes and movement in his play and I think he reminds me of Rooney in his build - not the all round play but definitely his stature. He also looks reasonably quick his finishing certainly was clinical. All of the clips were against top sides as we know but his finishing appears good enough to me to cut it at the prem level. I dont think we necessarily need Hooper but we do need another striker between the level of RVW and Holt if we want to keep moving in the other direction. I have seen the link in the Mirror and who knows whether theres any truth in it or whether its a well placed article and all part of the transfer window merry go round.
I think you may find that if CH manages to get most of his identified targets in, the football may be a little less negative next season. Whatever happens, RvW cannot and will not benefit from long punts from the keeper, so fingers crossed for a top calibre, ball playing AM arriving soon
You say that but it's never easy being a canaries fan, we have been disappointed many times in the past. Were not used to things working out!
i very much doubt we are after him. i don't know anything about him to be honest. was he once at brondby or am i going mad?
If we are interested you'd hope for better finishing than this! (About 6 mins in)
this n'doye link is exactly the sort of thing i was talking about earlier in the thread. it's a ploy to spark the hooper deal up again.
