Summer 2013 Transfer Rumour Thread - Mk2

Can't you tell there aren't a lot of transfer rumours about. The transfer thread has turned in to people guessing what's going on between the club and players leaving.

 

Erstwhile comrades? It's not a bleeding war and they're not soldiers. I am sure the other players who are mates will continue professionally just as they did when Nigel was sacked. They understand how football can change quickly for the worse.

 

He tried to calm down an argument the other day, it was quite sweet. The argument was more petulant than the ones we get on here, too.

 

Hey, i am just saying that there are negatives to think about. You are deluded if you think there is not any. Players like Hammond, you are right, would be professional. But seeming as Chaplow and Sharp are shooting there mouths in public, i am positive that they would talk about it at training. They may also not work as hard (knowing they are not under consideration) which may effect other players in training.

I am not commenting on how fair there situation is, i am simply saying having a few rotten apples could spoil the whole lot (I know its not that serious)

They have the ability to keep fit themselves, not the Clubs fault if the get crocked doing it, unfair I know, but clutching at straws as we don't really know what is happening.

Saints are registered as having been in attendance at the WYSCOUT conference in Barcelona this week.

It's a gathering of agents, club representatives and chief scouts to discuss transfers and in some cases, share information.

Other clubs found to be in attendance are: Celtic, Internacional and Valencia. I wonder if anything happened there...

 

I like to imagine at some point an angry mob composed of every representative of Saints and Celtic surrounded Wanyama's agent and beat him into submission.

 

Ha. It's like speed dating for football clubs and players apparently...

 

Well it's a fair point but I think there are ways around it.

Whether we want them or not these players are assets of the club and I think it would make more sense to keep them in good shape. If you're selling a car you give it a clean and a polish, if you're going on a date you try and look your best. Similarly, if you want to sell football players I think you have vested interest in keeping them in the best shape possible.

Another small factor is PR. If we look after these players they will have positive things to say about the club to other players when they move on. As it is, if we're interested in signing a promising youngster from Billy Sharp's next club and the youngster asks Billy his opinion I doubt he's going to get a positive reply.

 

It's not as far off as you might think. They've been through a lot together and I know that Lallana in particular is close to Chaplow and Sharp. How do you think he feels about his club treating his friends shabbily? I'm sure as you say he's professional and won't let it upset him too much but equally, Sharp and Chaplow are professional and if they were training with the other players they would be unlikely to disrupt things. You can't have it both ways, either these players understand the nature and mortality of their careers or they don't. Either way you've got a problem in this situation.

And again, I shouldn't have to, but I know people will give me grief if I don't point out that this is based on speculation.

 

Can we stop chatting about the talk about Chaplow and Sharp. We have no clue what has or hasn't gone on so what's the point?

 

I actually agree with you, they would be with the u-21 if i was in charge. I can just see why you would not want them around.

 

We have no clue about 90% of the things discussed on here (particularly in this thread), why is this different?

How are they bleating like babies? And they never asked for your sympathy. They're just bored and playing golf and dorking around on twitter, probably same as we'd do.

Look at you and your first world problems when you have time to complain about professional football players on a silly forum. Not that you're asking for sympathy either. Then now I'm complaining about you but my complaint is even sillier....

Sometimes I think whenever anyone complains someone who is undeniably in a worse situation should be allowed to kick them in the balls or female equivalent. It would lead to a lot less complaining from all of us, but also I think a lot more understanding when people do.

It's not a transfer rumour? I bet we have people that just like to look at the transfer thread hoping to see some one has signed. They instead get some crap that a person interpreted from a single tweet by two players. We have a Beefy's Corner for a reason.
