I would not be surprised if we had had a fee agreed a while back, and Burnley were just delaying in the hope they could get more from another club.
Earlier today from Twitter: Suzanne Geldard ‏@LT_Suzanne 5h Mixed signals over 'best and final' offer for Austin from Hull. If there is a new bid, doesn't appear to have landed at Turf Moor Suzanne covers football at the Lancashire Telegraph.
I wonder if Austin is being flown over to Hull by the now retired Michael Owen ? Owen knows the quick way and flight path as he has been here many times before.
Nope, my mate from the Billiards club says Bobby Zamora is meeting him at Hull Paragon.. (he's been there before)
Surely Negredo can give him directions here!! Tickles saw him in the crowd at the KC didnt you Tickles??? hehe
It was pointed out to me that he was. I had no idea what Negredo looked like at the time. Having seen pictures of Negredo since that day that chap looked like the server from the pizza shop.
Be interesting to see who's actually right here. The HDM have said that a bid's been lodged that's improved on the last one of £4m and that it'll probably be accepted The Lancashire Telegraph have continuously reported that no fee has been agreed, or even that a second bid has been made. What the hell is going on? One of these papers is talking ****e and it's getting annoying. Because it means that either our club hasn't made a bid and is just trying to unsettle Austin so they can lower the price (I REALLY hope that isn't the case), or Burnley are covering up our bid/talks in an attempt to lure other clubs into making an offer. If he's our number 1 target, we should be doing all we can to sign him. Yeah, alright, maybe we don't want to be held to ransom, but having seen Dwight Gayle going to Palace for £4.5m (8.5 with addons) and Cardiff spending £8m on Andreas Cornelius, why shouldn't we go that little bit further to get our top target?
Neither Gayle or Cornelius are proven at this level either, so have palace and cardiff have paid over the odds or our targets arent as good?
We'll they're untested, that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't any good. The value only comes into play in hindsight, once they have a season behind them. My worry is that we're so regimental with our spending that we could be 100k from getting our top target, only to miss out and end with some bargain bin crap. If he's so valued by us, we should be doing everything in our power to get him. Because another club who can afford to go that extra mile might step in without hesitation and once Austin's head is turned, we're a bit buggered. I know there aren't any clubs in for him at the moment, but I'm sure there will be at some point.
I think people need to trust our owners. After our last foray into the Premier League, which was brought clearly back into my thoughts with the Duffen Party Political Broadcast, I am overjoyed that we are currently fighting for every penny we spend. I honestly don't care if we are relegated this coming season, because I know our owners will act wisely and prudently to develop the club over the coming years and will NOT put the clubs existence into question. So lets all sit back and enjoy the ride.
My diehard Burnley fan seems to think both Swansea and Newcastle interested now..watch us lose out by pi55ing about haggling with what amounts to pennies by prem league standards.
Maybe we're not actually after Austin and he's just a red herring to try and get Celtic to accept our offer for Hooper. Just a thought but that may be why there is conflicting information being bandied about? I doubt it but you never know!
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hull-transfers-aaron-mclean-given-2026826 This article is about Aaron McLean but at the bottom it talks about Norwich bidding for some locomotiv Moscow striker. So maybe we are at the head of the queue for Hooper still?
If this is true, it would be the most stupidest move ever. It wouldn't push him towards England, no chance of playing against top opposition. If its not PL, there's no point. On a QPR related thread, DJ has gone to Blackburn after all. Not that anyone will be bothered by this.
