Is it just me that's missing something?? The majority seem to have a downer on Bayo's return saying not good enough for League One, yet Cody is the priority signing that everyone seems to want! Cody has had one decent season in the league and that was league two! Seen at Coventry that he can't do it in league one regardless of formation etc! I'm not saying I wouldn't like Cody at the club, but some are going overboard with the comments!

I sort of agree. If you look at his stats for goals on Wikipedia (see link) they were not very good for a striker, except with us. Hopefully thats going to put other clubs off having a punt on him. I still want him back, but I must admit ,I have slight reservations especially if he's going to cost a lot of money

I'm not going to risk upsetting you - (brb doesn't count ) - at the moment I am filled up with more mischief than usual - I think I've been inspired by my neighbour - It's a struggle for me not to extract the urine in most of what I read in these forums ( including what I write ! )

I'm not so sure, I personally am better in the middle of the park when I can send passes through to people. I'm also a half decent centre half and left back but my goalscoring record isn't that good. I have played up top but I'm better at linking up with people. Basically you won't see me score 25 goals a season :p

Those goals were impressive with many self made and not relying on 'just' his finishing. I am still hopeful that he will come to Gills.......

This clearly backs up the point on how influential Bayo was on Cody's goals, would love to see them together again.

Looking at the video is the first time I've realised how short a period of time players spend with us, there is no-one left from Bayo and Cody's first spell with us, ok lee and whelps for 4 games that season but no permanent players from that period.

Got me thinking why do players not spend long at the club? Perhaps it's down to our changes in league/management/financial status or something else, would be nice to have a couple of players spend a considerable amount of time with us.

Its pretty standard among the lower leagues. Lots of clubs struggle to keep a core for more than one or two seasons. Especially if promotion or relegation come into it.

Of course then we have the youngsters who feed into higher up clubs and the older guys who retire. Very rare you see a player announced on any longed than a two year deal down in l1 and l2

I always stated that Bayo was clearly the one driving Cody. That was my concern last time Cody came back, who was going to feed him for him to score.

A lot of people knock Bayo for his all round mobility, being quite the opposite to Keds but we have two different styles of player. I do not believe the workhorse rate of Keds suits Cody's style. I'm not having a go at Keds, he certainly has the strength and mobility that you do not see in a lot of players a bit of an olympian if you like. However, with Bayo his more direct style suits Cody. The only negative to that is teams can soon quickly suss out your style but if they waste three men on Bayo, then that is where someone like Keds will come into play and rip the opposition apart.

If there is one thing that excites me about getting Cody, it would be seeing Martin Allen hopefully selecting, Bayo, Keds and Cody on the same team for some reason that just seems such a mouth watering prospect. Stick Bayo up front as the target man with Cody playing off him and then with Keds ready to pounce with his all round mobility slightly behind. With Bayo as a distraction you might even see Keds open goal rate increase.

Even if we don't get Cody, let's not forget the only decent German, who might even turn out to be a better prospect that Cody.

I think people are forgetting about the German. Remember He was the 1st striker MA purchased which could only mean he was his number 1 target. He could well Suprise many people this season.

<doh> No, no, no. What with Lenny and now you agreeing with me! This is becoming a worrying trend. I'm going to have to think up something controversial, this can not continue. I have my online credibility to think of here in being perceived as a complete nutter (copyright GillsPegLeg) <laugh>
