Aren't Sunderland 'aiming' for Europe? If Sunderland can, why would it be deluded to think that Newcastle can? I thought maybe the 5-1 and 1-1 would of shown that we aren't exactly far behind in terms of quality lol
As a rule I don't normally pull people up for typo errors, but to state that Mike Ashley is willing to "play" up front rather than "pay" up front (which I presume you meant), is one that was just too good to let pass...
Or in our case cat fights eh! I just love the way the likes of Troll and his side-kick come on here looking for to wind us up, then take a hissy fit when the tables are turned.
Chappaz, isnt that pretty much the same team as you went down with, minus Dunne? so you came back up with a prem team who were supposed to be great , prior to relegation, so you didnt realy come into the prem as new boys, like say Swansea or Blackpool, your memory is a bit off key on this one.
Meant Duff, drove back from Ellinton via Dover/ Dunkerke, to Papendrect last night, not slept yet, my excuse,,,,,,,, nothing to do with the Becks, Heiniken, or Captain morgans, so my sorrys to you all, but Dave, You knew who I meant anyway.
I didn't, that's why I asked. I don't understand the rest of your original comment either to be honest. I think Chappaz' point was that we aren't new to the league which is maybe why we won't buckle under the pressure of a second season like so many newcomers do. And they're the same players, but they aren't the same team, there's a big difference.
No. The team took a huge change in key areas. We went down with a bunch of overpaid players with no team spirit and no fight. Our most common starting 11 consisted of players like Duff, Butt, Owen, Martins and Guthrie. Plus, back then, players like Coloccini and Enrique were actually quite poor. In our Championship season, we lost £23million worth of players. We had players like Nolan, Guthrie, Routledge, Alan Smith and others playing regularly. The overall team quality wasn't great, but it was ample in the Championship because we still had a few players who could get by in the top flight. When we came up, we brought in players like Perch, Gosling, Campbell, Tiote and Ben Arfa on loan. Obviously Tiote is the only one who has made much of an impact. However, Carroll came through, and Coloccini and Enrique finally started to reach good levels of play. Plus, Nolan became an influential team member and Barton started showing us his ability. In fact, in the season where we got relegated, only Jonas and Harper regularly play now as they did back then. Enrique and Colo were both ****e. The rest of the players are new regular starters. Very, very different team.
