With the 4th I'm just saying Jenson was no pushover for Lewis at Canada. After last weekend Lewis could be mentally weaker compared to last year while Button knows he can beat the Bulls.

Don't knock the state of mind, remember how it was getting ontop of vettel last year, he was never the same until Singapore.

Its a good point silver, as much as some may be sick of hearing his name I think quite an important part of deciding the winner will depend on Hamiltons state of mind.

I have seen many comments saying he usually comes back strong after a bad race or when he feels wronged, but this is more of a trait Id say resembles Alonso.

As I see it when under pressure which he will be as he really needs the win, he makes mistakes.

Some news on the Canadian GP...

    - Perez will obviously have to pass a FIA test to race
    - Pirelli says its impossible to predict how their tyres will fare
    - and Williams are confident of a good result

Thanks for the news BLS. Certainly Williams are looking a lot more competitive now - ahead of Force India and Torro Rosso at least.

As for the Pirelli tyres, I honestly don't understand the logic in bringing the two softest tyres

What, no Button? He said, "I am sure that Sebastian will walk away with it - it’s as simple as that," before the race on Sunday when Button started second on the grid. Ah well, he's entitled to his opinion and if he doesn't rate Button it's no skin off Button's nose.

Rosberg's allegedly about to sign a five-year contract with Mercedes for $115m.

In terms of the race, Im looking forward to it. Can see the McLarens going well again here, so hoping that its Jenson who takes the fight to Red Bull again. Need to see JB win again this year!

On the whole, if its anything like last year in terms of tyre wear on the more durable bridgestones, then Im expecting them to run out of tyres, as Monaco aside, the wear rate on these Pirellis is nuts!

I wonder how the newspapers get hold of that kind of information.

If it's true then (given the general worthlessness of driver contracts if they fall out of favour with the team) it takes him out of the running for discussions about who'll replace Massa or Webber.

Indeed, although what driver in the top half of the grid would commit himself to Ferrari or Red Bull when they will obviously play the lackey to Alonso and Vettel?

In commiting to Mercedes he's essentially got his own team to build around him, just depends on whether they're going to deliver or not.

    Going for Seb again.
I think the only race where he will be in trouble is Monza. When its dry on race day that is....

I had forgotten that Red Bull qualified on the prime tyre last year while Mclaren went on the options. I think Vettel will get pole but the race will depend on what the tyres do.

If Buemi continues the way he has maybe he'll get the nod for RBR, he's giving Algesuari a lesson this season. Rosberg is a bit weak in my eyes, not a number 1.

Nothing against Vettel but I really hope he doesn't score at Canada, just to give the others some time to reel him in. In all likelihood he'll finish 3rd or above, with Alonso, Hamilton and Button the only ones who can challenge him. (and I didn't include Webber on purpose).

Gone for Hamilton but only because of their race pace, KERS & DRS. I see Vettel getting pole.

I know this might be late and a bit obvious to some but the other reasons for Red bull being stronger in quali than race pace is because their DRS is better in reducing drag than the others. So Red Bull could be very strong in qualifying come Canada. They might not have the best engine but with downforce and reducing drag they look to be far the best.

Also take on board, what's going to happen when 2 DRS zones will be applied on the race?

Cheers for the nico rosberg link, best news for Mercedes all year.

Full time observer on the old 606, thought I'd try my hand on not606..... Hello! Just a question about tyres as they may be pivotal in Canada; have Pirelli changed the composition of the tyre compounds since the start of the season as they appear to be getting more robust as the season progresses. I was under the impression that they had made the 6 compounds for the season and the teams received whatever Pirelli turned up with at the event. As the tyres were wearing quicker than the pit crews could change them at the start of the season, how has it dropped to (what would have been) a one stop in Monaco? Apologies if this is in the wrong place, I'm sure I'll get used to where to ask in the future.

Welcome to the Forum Smoggy, and no need to apologise <ok>

There has been a lot of talk about the compounds changing but Pirelli have denied all but a few changes. Its probably more the teams adapting to the tyres that actual changes, unless subtle changes have made substantial increases in range. A Monaco 1 stop was looking like a bad move at the end, but still 2 stops is a good effort after what we saw in pre season. Canada should be another 3/4 stop race so it will be interesting to see hows the tryes react through out a race.
