I think that all depends on how much he expects to play. If we're keeping him as experienced backup and an impact sub, and only using him against weaker teams, then I don't see the problem. I'd rather have Owen coming off the bench for the last ten minutes than a young player who may be overawed by the pressure. The fact he still wants to stay after only playing 17 partial games this season indicates he'll be happy to be a bench warmer if needed. You could have said the same thing when Fletcher missed out on the final in 2008, or Park missed out in 2009. Both of those players are still with us, and arguably have become more focused and determined from the experience. Berba hasn't performed at a consistently good level in the second half of the season, maybe missing out on the CL is the kick up the arse he needed?
Both park and fletcher at the time were the definition of squad players. Add that to the fact he was our record signing and should have bare minimum been on the bench and also only has a year left on his deal, he is most definatley on his way. As it goes if we sign a top class replacement, someone like benzema I wont be too fussed, however if its up to owen to move as main back up striker then that is just a load of garbage.
Yeah whats your point? We parked the bus, for those tactics parks perfect. Against chelsea we could play more open, he wasnt needed.
He's talking about 2009. Park was missed out when his energy could have helped counter Barca's passing and we needed an option to park the bus to regain our composure after their first goal.
OK, people seem to be convinced that Berbatov is definately on his way out. Can someone please point me in the direction of where SAF or anyone from United has said this is the case as I am confused.
If you need sir alex to tell you that after the final I feel for you. Your powers of perception must be lacking somewhat.
I will believe that Berbatov is leaving when he leaves. SAF has dropped players for big games before and they didn't end up leaving a month later. So wind your neck in.
Hmm, I'm clearly confusing myself now. When was the final SAF said leaving Park out of was the hardest decision he ever had to make?
Fletchers never been a hard decision to leave out. In 07/08 he wasnt good enough nor near the first team. In 09 was suspended. And in 11 was ill, shouldnt have even been on the bench as he was nearly fit enough and also been in bad form all year.
