Look at the picture she took in the Liberty, Shelvey holding the Swans top up! https://twitter.com/swansforever
Aye, Swans have confirmed he is now one of our players. It didn't seem to take long for the guy to sign up, he must have really wanted to join us.
Wish him all the best, as I said on the other thread, he never hides away when the chips are down and I appreciate that attribute. He needs a lot of work, he is a very raw talent but for me you have the perfect manager to take him on to the next level.
If we get a decent striker, I will be happy with Shelvey...otherwise!! On a different slant, I can imagine the young follicly challenged males down Wind Street already chatting to the drunken orange wannabees..."I'm John Shelvey and I play for the Swans!". I would (if I was young,single... and bald!)
Thought it was £4.5m with add on's that could take it to £6m. Compare him to Ince; - they both looked the business in the Championship - they were both developed (at different stages of their careers) at Liverpool - they both played for the England youth teams all the way up - they are both 21 In Shelvey's favour - played 47 times for Liverpool. Ince was let go without making an appearance. - has played Europa football and contributed to the scoresheet - has a Full England cap - will cost us £2 million less (even bigger saving if he doesn't cut it) - on less wages - is a bigger physical specimen...we were lacking in physicality. Doesn't look like such a bad deal does it?
Liverpool still owe us a bit for Joe Allen - anyone know if that was taken into consideration with the Nosferatu Shelvey deal?
I did read somewhere that we are still owed 5m from Liverpool as part of the Joe Allen deal, so it's basically cost us nothing to get him.
I've had a soft spot for young Shelvey since his reaction to Taggart when he was red carded against united last season! Looking forwadr to seeing him play for us!!
