Nearly 90 days to go to the season begins, spuds delusion reaching at boiling point again. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11675_6957197,00.html
Oh... and Gareth Bale believes the spuds can finish above Arsenal next season. Funny we have just experienced one of our worst seasons in recent times and are still ahead of them... I guess it's a matter of perspective eh?
Jesus! 606 is barely cold in its grave and already the Gooner WUMs have emerged from their flea-pits! Can we please put WUMming on the back-burner, at least for a little while?
Wumming on our own board...is that even possible? How about you crawl back to the Spuds board if a dose of realism is too hard for you to handle?
It is no more deluded for either Gallas or Bale to talk up Spurs' chances next season (give the two very good seasons we've had so far under Harry), than it is for Whinger to have bragged about "doing" the quadruple, then the treble, then the double, then simply staying in the top 4. The stats show that had we taken the points we should have taken off the relegation-hit sides we would have finished 2nd. On that basis, it's hardly so beyond the edge of reasonableness that we might finish back in the top 4 season, is it?
robin_van_fiberglass... You have just posted on a thread that sets out to deride Spurs (by attacking remarks made by one of its star players) and Spurs fans (by calling us "spuds"), and you have used the "slap-face" icon. I trust that your ire is directed at your fellow Gooner? Do we really all want to descend into the unadulterated wummery of the BBC606 site? Like you, I am sick of all the name-calling and the petty "my team's so much better than your team" juvenile debates. Can we call a truce on all of that? Or must we simply accept that peace will never reign between our two sets of supporters?
All joking aside, I think our two sides are each going to have a very jittery Summer transfer window. Neither of our teams are immune from the poaching intent of other sides. I think we can each be confident that we'll see off the intentions of these poachers, but nothing is guaranteed. It's gong to be an interesting Summer, and I would hope that each set of fans will be gracious to the other, in the event that the unthinkable happens, and one of us loses a key player.
They've more of a chance that Liverpool's ****ing **** team who are, as usual, being tipped for the title by all the "experts".
Nobody is tipping liverpool for the title, don't get so worked up about it. A lot of man utd fans have this weird complex that all the pundits think they will fail and believe liverpool are better than them, its not true
I really don't believe we will lose Modric, as he is the pivot around which our team is balanced. He is worth to us more than United will be prepared to pay. I wouldn't let him go for even £50 million, and any offer for him is going to have to be in excess of that to even stand a chance of being accepted. He has five years left to run on his contract, remember, and is still very young. I just don't think United will spend that kind of money on him, when there are other, cheaper options out there. And I cannot see Modric at any other club, certainly not City. Our problem has been lack of goals. If we had had Darren Bent playing for us, his goals would have secured 2nd for us, behind United, this season. That's how close we are to challenging for the title. Scoff all you want, but those are the facts. I really am not bothered by 'Pool, because I don't believe they are any where near us in terms of development. A couple of decent strikers and a more reliable keeper, and we'll be good to go for next season. I'm confident that all our star players will give it at least one more season. Fabregas, however, has made it absolutely clear that he wants to leave the Gunners and go back home. Barca have told you that they will offer only £30 million for him and that they are prepared to wait. That makes sense, as Fab would be an ideal replacement for Xavi, who still has at least a couple more seasons in him. Having said that, I think Barca would like to have Fab at their club in order to prepare him for the Barca style, so they are going to maintain their pressure to sign him, especially as they know that Fab wants to leave you. Your board's (not Wenger's) choice is a clear one, therefore. Sell him now for £30 million, or continue to hold off and end up giving him away. Of course, by holding off, Fab will become increasingly discontented and his football will continue to suffer. I really do believe that you have the biggest potential headache, of our two clubs.
does gallas still play football? thought he was a bench warmer eaning quite a bit of money. (mug redknapp)
i will however say what i have done for many many many years, we will still finish higher in the premier league. Good luck in champions league. Oh wait 1 time wonders. well you'l have your memories. --- Would like to point out i know we are not guaranteed to be in the champs proper next season (after playoff)
Gallas has been exceptionally solid for us, especially during our CL campaign, where his experience was a massive help for us. I think most Spurs fans rate Gallas very highly.
