Why has'nt brenda kept him is the question here, he is going to be a bench player for us, for 6 million i would want somebody who is first on the team sheet, i bet brenda is pissing himself over this transfer i know i would be in his shoes, our huw has ****ed up on this one its embarrassing

It a valid reason just like some of our players in the past who would rather a move to play in the first team than sit on the bench...shelvey will be a fans favorite before no time just like tremmel did when everyone was saying he was a rubbish keeper before he proved he was not...Good signing...<ok>

Except that he is likely to be sitting on the bench for us I imagine. Like Tremmel in fact and Tremmel didn't cost us 6 million.

shelvey wont be a bench warmer i can assure you, he could have done that at liverpool and there is no way we would pay £6million and him agreeing personal terms if he was not assured a place in the first team...

Don't think it's fair to say he's going to be a flop for us just yet, or that he's a waste of money, or even that he's a mistake.

He had a lot of appearances for Liverpool last season, but try as they might, their midfield still wasn't as technically gifted as ours. Jonjo will find himself in good company in our midfield and, in theory, it should bring the best out of him.

The money is a bit steep, yes... but the guy is young, British, internationally capped for a top football nation (although playing for us he can kiss his England career goodbye), and has Premier League and Europa League experience. He's arrived in time for pre-season - let's see how he does. I think we are going to need him to play a lot this season. We won't have bench warmers this time around. There will be a first team, but every member of the squad is going to have to play a lot of games this year, especially if we plan on being successful.

Let me pose a question: who would you rather be in our PL squad? Mark Gower or Jonjo Shelvey?

Keep ya hair on! Lets give the boy a chance FFS you never know! I think if this deal was done after we sign our new main striker, people's attitude would be a little different.

What assurance can there possibly be. I can see it now ....

Michu: "Hey Jonjo, welcome to the club. I'm going to set aside all the goals I scored last season, take it easy, put my feet up .... why don't you chip in with say 15 or so. Let me know when you get tired I'll come off the bench for you.".

JDG: "Hey Jonjo, welcome to the club. It's not like I really want to go to Brazil for the World Cup finals with Holland .... just step right in there and have a few games on me."

Ki: " Hey Jonjo, welcome to the club. It's not like I really want to go to Brazil for the World Cup finals with Korea .... just step right in there and have a few games on me."

Canas: " Hey Jonjo, welcome to the club. Get in line, my turn first."

Gower: "Hey Jonjo, welcome to the club. I'm a fat **** and not fit to play so I left and went to Charlton. It's really tough keeping the donuts off when you're not playing regularly."

It's going to be tough for Shelvey to come into this squad with that price tag. I'm sure this is the best opportunity for him, to move forward and challenge for a place in England's squad, and learn a style of play that will make him best suited for international football. If he can't learn anything from ML then he's never going to learn anything from anybody. But, this is not going to be a soft touch, he's going to have to play like he's never played before. If he makes it, he's earned it and best of luck to him.

Dont flatter yourself, but the truth in communication is in the little detail. Your details paint a vivid picture at times, dude.

PS you chose to respond so the "infatuation" must work both ways if 'Daitheory' is correct :)

Right lads, he's been signed, so let's get behind the lad. You never know, he might be the little bit of steel in the midfield that the likes of ivor and myself have been calling for.

    Thank you, come again!

Na seriously 6 mill is not a lot of money for someone with his potential. Low risk with the potential for high gains.

Currently I do not see how his poor touch and decision-making will fit in the quick way you play, which along with his attitude, hindered him with us.

He does however have something about him which may develop as he gets older and he gets more experience. 6 mill is peanuts.

I hope I am wrong, but a near club record transfer for someone who whinges on twitter about being left out, likes a drink, costs £6 mill and has been known to be wasteful in posession does not set my world alight.

If I am wrong, I will be the first to hold my hands up.

Anyhow...Welcome to Swansea Jonjo, you Jack Bastard!
