Stoke City are ready to resurrect Peter Crouch’s £5million move to Queens Park Rangers.
The 32-year-old England striker nearly rejoined his old club and manager Harry Redknapp in the January transfer window before the deal fell through.

However, Redknapp is still interested in taking Crouch to Loftus Road and new Stoke boss Mark Hughes is prepared to consider it if he can bring in another striker.

The Potters have already been linked with Burnley’s Charlie Austin and Celtic front man Gary Hooper this summer.
Stoke became the 10th club of Crouch’s career when he moved to the Britannia Stadium for a club record £10million two years ago, but he admitted over the weekend that he was unsure of his future after Hughes replaced Tony Pulis.

‘With my history, you just don’t know,’ said Crouch.
‘I’ve never really had a lot of contact with Mark Hughes. But I remember watching him at Chelsea. I’m looking forward to working with him.’

Honduras midfielder Wilson Palacios, who made the move from Spurs with Crouch in a £16m double deal, failed to make a single start for Stoke last season and is attracting interest from Hull.

Cardiff have inquired about striker Kenwyne Jones while midfielder Maurice Edu is set for a permanent move to Bursaspor after spending the second half of last season on loan at the Turkish club.

Edu, 27, played just 12 minutes for Stoke after signing from Rangers last summer for a nominal fee.

Not for me. Not prolific and would demand too much investment between wages and transfer fee.
Would also require a bit of hoof ball to suit his game. No thanks, unless free

I saw that about Crouch too - all the old past it players are being linked with us - Parker, Dunne, Defoe too, who would be better, but he's past his best as well. Fergursen screwed us with Park, the Dutchman did us with AJ and BZ, Hammers with Green, and now the talk is more of the same. They still think we can be taken for a ride, just hope they are not right any longer! We got plenty of experience in the squad already, we don't need any more past it cast-offs who were good before but are no longer. We need young blood on the way up, not old farts on the way to their pensions.

I would have welcomed him 2 seasons ago but not now.

Can't argue with that. If we got rid of BZ & AJ then I'd say yes but not in addition to what we already have.

Nothing against Crouchy, but I was hoping we might find a younger striker to bring on. Crouch, Zamora and Johnson looks a rather ancient strikeforce

Always liked Crouchy and stood up for him when friends criticised him. But this is a no for me.
Not the type of player we need right now. Rather go for a Rhodes or Austin - but think even our board won't spend that money for these players. We need a fresh, up and coming striker for this season and the future - sorry Crouchy, but you're not what we need right now.

Agreed. We happen to have a handy young striker already at the club, Peter Skapetis. Spend our money wisely.

I think the time has passed for his return to be a great one, but I do see him 'smashing it' against championship defenders. We need some youth though!
