He is content to stay for another year in England, despite the fact that his club will not be taking part in the Champions League. He says that he's very thankful to Tottenham and that he's happy where he is. Modric, on the other hand, handled his situation quite differently, which ended up working wonders for Real Madrid's efforts to sign him.

The Fail have one-upped it by basically reprinting the whole thing and claiming that it's journalism: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2354791/Real-Madrid-deal-Gareth-Bale.html

There's a lot of players that wouldn't have put in the amount of effort Modric did in that extra year he was forced to stay..

He wanted to get a big move. You don't do that by playing badly for a whole season.
The prick shouldn't have let Chelsea tap him up and try to force his way out of a 6 year contract in the first place.

Eventually he did. Refused to play at the beginning, as his head wasn't in the right place. Once the window closed he put in a shift, but was hugely disruptive until that point.

A shame that all the sports journalism in this country is slanted towards Man Utd (Murdoch's Evil Empire) or Liverpool (The BBC), otherwise a paper would be having a field day at the expense of Marca and Real right about now...

Loving the "inflexible" bit about Levy.
He played poker. Raised the pot to 100m and dared Madrid to call it.
On the pitch : galacticos (perhaps) . On the money : Wonga.cos. :D

The Metro are claiming that Barca have offered us Bojan Krkic for £6m, as his career's gone down the toilet in the last couple of seasons.
I'm struggling to work out who even owns him at the moment, though.
He's also been linked with about a million other clubs, but I can vaguely see why the media would think we'd be interested.

Confusing... I thought he went to Roma... Surely none of Barca's business anymore...

Not the leading striker we are looking for anyway, but could be an alternative to Lennon with a bit more of a goal threat.

Real Madrid today finally conceded defeat in their attempts to sign Gareth Bale this summer.

TWO DAYS into the PL transfer window, and they have conceded defeat !!??
What a bunch of effing lightweights. :D
Levy should never sell Bale to Madrid as punishment for their lack of resolve.

He was the reason why they allowed Gio to leave.
I'm not sure i like the idea of signing players whose careers are in the toilet

He went to Roma, then Milan, but Barca had some sort of buy-back or first option clause, which they seem to have activated at some point. Not sure when they did it, though.

    Agreed.

His career was already in the toilet before he moved to Roma, and then Milan, where he's done nothing. He's surely been flushed down to sewer level by now.

I saw Huddelestone rumored to Sunderland for 5 million. I wouldn't sell him for less than 10, if that, because he really does add another dimension to the squad as it stands. There's no one with his range of passing. Even though he hardly played last year, you'd have to chalk up the Man City win to his influence. Played appropriately all year, he could mean some key points--worth considerably more than 5 million.

The downside is he's slow, and shouldn't be used against the fastest and most aggressive midfields (like Chelsea). But against most, especially now that it seems he'll be flanked by some combination of Sandro, Dembélé and Paulinho, he could be just what we need to unlock defenses, even more so since the only other playmaker, Carroll, probably won't see too much action, and the other player who can get Bale into open space (Beni) is probably on his way. Unfortunately.

His ankle is very fragile, so I suspect any club would hesitate about paying as much as £10m for a player who would be an injury risk.

Spurs new Brazilian is looking good. The rest of the squad will need the treatment to wear the new short shorts.

No one would pay £10m for Hudd. It's obvious he's not important to us, and he'd be a waste of a squad space in my opinion - I'd rather we played Carroll or Livermore. Good servant to the club, never quite fulfilled early promise, time to get rid.
