We understand Villa boss Paul Lambert has told the 29-year-old that he not only wonât take any part in the squadâs pre-season preparations, either friendly matches or travelling to a training camp in Germany, he wonât even be allowed to train with the first-team at all. This move is expected to quicken Bentâs exit from the Midlands with St Jamesâ Park his preferred destination â despite his links to Sunderland. They're welcome to him. He might do the business next season but his pace is already diminishing, he'll alway bag the 10 goals from being in the right place at the right time but pace is the first to go and he relies on it. Any more than a one year contract would represent terrible business imo.

Villa won't let him train with the other players!, when a club goes in for a player they expect him to have played recently and scored goals, so Mcliesh shoots himself in the foot by not playing him for about 6 months and leaving bent out of the whole squad, I want a player who played and scored yesterday. Why he is getting left out is strange like at Spurs, but if Villa sell him and Benteke they will go down.
He will always get goals but they will be fed up with him when they lose matches because he just doesn't do anything and will often get the wrath of the cockney army.

Doesn't concern me at all this like. Bent, as we know, thrives on the adulation of the fans, and he ain't getting that down the road. He's also slower, older and more injury prone than when we had him.
