For me, if possible, do the deal!

Anderson in my view could be our FIRST ACTUAL semi decent left sided player in god knows how long. He has VERY good delivery, and can actually beat a man. Would certainly be ( wing wise, I quite liked Martin through the middle off the striker ) an upgrade.

JET if we can get a decent price, I'd like to leave. While I do like JET, and again under Jewell he had a very good spell, I very much back McCarthy on this. He isn't the type of player Mick wants at present, and unless JET really goes out of his way, gets very very/ interested over the summer, it isn't going to work anyway.

I can't see this deal ever happening tbh as JET's wage demands will be too high for a League 1 club and SOD wants to keeo Anderson by all accounts. I confess that I do not know too much about Anderson but from what I have heard from Bristol fans is that he is very injury prone but on his day he is a very good player. I wouldn't lose sleep if this deal does not materialise.

I always thought Anderson was a RW as he's right footed, would prefer to see him on that side, it's not often players make good wingers if they play on the opposite side, although depends what system you play. But certainly in a McCarthy 442 I'd like to see us play like that, which would hopefully Anderson is a replacement for Edwards as although we probably need another LW I'd say we're fairly well covered down that side with Tabb, Murphy, Wordsworth and Carson all able to play there.

I'd like to see us keep JET as I like him and he's such a talented player, he's the only player we've got really with that bit of quality and creativity, most of our squad is made up of good players but their mainly just solid and not really inspiring. Although he didn't have a great season last year everytime he came on the pitch we almost instantly created more chances. I do see however why Mick wants rid, I think we all knew pretty much as soon as Mick came in that JET's not really Micks cup of tea or type of player he likes to work with which is a shame because if we're a good team JET could really be the type of player to take us to that next level.

JET has undoubted creative quality BUT he just can not seem to stand up to the relentless nature of the Championship! He simply has to do it in every game and not flit in and out of games as he so often does. I am all for keeping quality players but unfortunately in JET's case he blows too hot and cold to be really effective.

I do agree with you JWM and I don't think even his most die hard fans can defend his performances as like you say, he has shown little to no consistency when it comes to holding down a place in the team.
Personally I think this decision is financially driven as I think any manager would love to have a JET type player in their squad to bring on and offer a different dimension.. unfortunately with that, he is on a decent wage and therefore value for money we certainly aren't getting as his cameo's aren't good enough to warrant keeping him as the money (which we don't seem to have an endless supply of) could be better spent on a player who could play 90 minutes 40+ times a season.

Personally though, I'd keep JET and make sure he is fit and ready as he really could be crucial for us this season as he is able to unlock teams unlike any players we currently have..

One thing is for sure, we can't afford to have a player on £10k a week just warming the bench for another year!

I think with anderson we would get more better more consistent delivery in the box, which is something we have lacked for ages. I would describe him as younger version of Darren Currie.

JET is such an annoying player, he has the ability to be a prem player but the work ethic of a conference player. I reckon we have to get rid because of add-ons we might have to pay arsenal. god what a waste!

slightly off topic, but has anybody heard any rumours about lewis mcgugan coming to us?

That would be the crux of the issue and you won't be finding any disagreements from me on that front <ok>

Still got potential to be a hell of a player though.. a lot of people seem to overlook that he is still only 22 <yikes>

Yes I have Guru, apparently McGugan is signing next week and will be unveiled before the Crawley game! Don't hold your breath though....

Signed for Watford.... according to multiple reports online. Was never any confirmed reports that we were interested although I imagine we were in a long list of clubs that were considering or even offering terms..

Completely agree with those sentiments KOPR.

I can't imagine JET is on as much as 10k a week but yes agree given FFP if he's gonna be on the bench or sometimes not even in the squad I can see why Mick wants to get rid as he's probably one of the higher earners. And I can't see him getting into a Mick McCarthy team too often especially if we play 442. I think a player like JET pretty much somes up PJ, very talented player but there's something amiss and Nouble similarly with Mick, probably a limited player but has the ethic and attitude. It's a shame though Mick doesn't want to work with JET as I'm sure he could get the best out of him. This would be a big move for JET though, if it doesn't work out he could slip down the leagues but I'd imagine a manager like SOD would use him properly and get the best out of him, it could be a good move for all parties.

I like the look of this Anderson though, a proper winger, one which we haven't had for a while though I disagree with Guru on the comparison with Currie.

Yes I see Mcgugan has signed for Watford, I was surprised by those rumours tbh partly because I though Cardiff were after him and partly because is he not an attacking central midfielder who likes to play in the free role/hole?? something I doubt we'll see under Mick which is one of the reasons why I think we're selling JET

I have been impressed with JETs attitude in this issue, he has said he is happy to move to a lower league and take a wage cut so I do think that's a smart move for both us and him. He is still young so needs to be playing football week in week out, even if it is in L1.

If we had the luxury of money to spare then obviously the best move would be loan him out to a L1 team and see if he can prove he deserves a new contract with us, but the fact is we won't be using him, we don't have much cash to spend, and we need a winger. Even if 2 years down the line JET is tearing up the Championship and is worth twice as much as we paid for him hopefully we will be out of the Championship and the £2m we could have got for him will be peanuts!

" I would describe him as younger version of Darren Currie."

I assume you haven't seen Anderson play then by that assessment. Unlike Currie, Anderson possesses reasonable pace and can skip by a player or two pace wise. Currie has better delivery, his was often superb.

    I really did love Currie!

I was refering more to his delivery westie, not being funny i have seen faster dead people than Currie. Saying that i really wish we had him out wide now.

BTW, What do you think of your namesake joining Mark 'the money' Morsley at Needham Market FC?

Not a clue what went evidently WRONG with Ian Westlake in all honesty!!!

I was irritated when we offloaded him to Leeds, however, judging by his " career " since that may have been a very wise bit of business!

Just what has gone wrong his end!?

What a great player Currie was. A player just great to watch and probably had the best delivery I've seen a player have at Ipswich, just a shame he didn't have the pace to get away from the man once he beat him, it was painful sometimes if we tried to break with him!!

I also liked Darren Currie but he missed the easiest of chances against Leeds that cost us promotion to the Premier League that year! Unforgiveable!

If you put Martin and Currie together you'd have the perfect winger!! But both are guilty of 2 of the worst misses I have seen in a town shirt!!
