From a selfish point iof view it's screwing people like me who rent privately. Councils now give money to people to rent privately so it's driving the rents up to a ridculous level. You're now looking at 900 - 1K a month for a 1 bedroom flat in the London suburbs which is utter madness. If they hadn't sold off the houses then I, and millions like me, wouldn't be competing with those on housing lists who are getting their rents paid. Don't get me wrong - I don't begrudge those who get that but it's crucifying everyone and just lining the pockets of make a quick buck merchants.

 

Excellent. I'll get ma nieces and nephews names doon on the cooncil list and snap a few of them up for **** all. Jobs a good un.

I have nothing against people having money if they've earned it fairly. What I don't have time for is people who are driven by self-interest, such as those who want to see more houses being built and just so happen to work in the building trade
