From a selfish point iof view it's screwing people like me who rent privately. Councils now give money to people to rent privately so it's driving the rents up to a ridculous level. You're now looking at 900 - 1K a month for a 1 bedroom flat in the London suburbs which is utter madness. If they hadn't sold off the houses then I, and millions like me, wouldn't be competing with those on housing lists who are getting their rents paid. Don't get me wrong - I don't begrudge those who get that but it's crucifying everyone and just lining the pockets of make a quick buck merchants.
Excellent. I'll get ma nieces and nephews names doon on the cooncil list and snap a few of them up for **** all. Jobs a good un. I hope nobody else thinks of doing the same
Aye, but they're mostly high rise flats nae **** would want to buy. Plus, it's Glasgow. Who the **** would want to live there?
More competition leads to lower prices. Can't help it if becomes more costly to generate electricity. You seem to think that the state was/is the ultimate economic model of efficiency when nothing could be further from the truth. Privatisation led to wealth for people savvy enough to take advantage...... I'm seeing a pattern here, don't tell me.... the Left don't like people being rich
40% of the Scottish populous, ST. (Glasgow Metro) And they're pulling down 50% of Glasgow's high rises and building........ council houses.
Here's the nub with people that swallow half arsed second-hand Keynsian nonsense. They genuinely believe that their model of idealism is entirely self-regulating while any opposition to that is the extremist idealism of their opposition. They also, bizarrely, don't believe that their idealism is idealism.
You have an uncanny ability to make assumptions about other people based on nothing but guesswork. Let's see if this so-called fracking leads to our energy bills being reduced as they are claiming. I bet you anything you like it wont. I have nothing against people having money if they've earned it fairly. What I don't have time for is people who are driven by self-interest, such as those who want to see more houses being built and just so happen to work in the building trade
Yes, I'm out for myself. So are 99% of people. It's called human nature. And I don't work in the housing sector. Sheds only.
Just build more of them and the price will come down. Whether anyone can get a mortgage for them is inconsequential. If you think that's a daft idea, you hate rich people.
