Why would we sign him when he have Parker, Livermore, Huddlestone and Sandro that play defensive mid? Arsenal only have... Ramsey who is poor anyway.

Don't get what why people think Paulinho wont sign.

Our offer has been accepted (confirmed by Corinthians), the player said he wants to go to spurs, the player said he has accepted our offer, Corinthians held a PRESS CONFERENCE about him leaving (you dont do that unless you are sure) and one of our players has been talking about how glad he is that Paulinho is coming to spurs.

Unless his legs fall off between now and his medical I don't see any issues.

It looks likely that he'll sign, and the Barry to Spurs rumor in the Sun probably has about as much credence as the Barry to Arsenal rumour, but personally I like to see signings confirmed by my club before I start celebrating. I've been there before listening to the media saying it's a done deal only for it not to happen, so I'm always cautious until I see it confirmed by the club.

Only the worry that Madrid, PSG or Chelsea will suddenly decide to offer 3m more than us.

I'd agree with you about most signings, but when the player says that he's definitely joining at a press conference with his old club and one of his international teammates welcomes him to Spurs, then I'd be surprised if it fell through.
Stranger things have happened, but I don't think that it's worth being that cautious. He could do a Hamann and immediately ask to leave, but how often does that happen? Not worth worrying about.

If you dont want to read the link here is the quote from Paulinho which sums up why I don't think this deal will fall through.

"I received an offer from Russia that was way higher than what I earned at Corinthians, but that wasn't my focus. My focus was to stay at Corinthians, I refused a huge offer because of the Confederations Cup and the World Cup.

"The moment is not to think about the financial aspect, I have to think about my career. You can earn money anywhere, a guy that earns one million does the same as someone who earns 500 thousand, you need to have a good head.

"I received a huge offer, to earn 10 times more. I played in Lithuania and Poland for two and a half years, and I thought that I would be hidden in Russia, stay far away from the national team, with no visibility.

"I focused on my career first and on the financial aspect later."

Seems a great lad and I have no doubts that he'll be signing for us.

Sorry I hadn't seen that press conference, have you got a link ? If that's so, then yes it looks pretty concrete.

This is the sky article taken from that press conference - It was in Brazilian so video link wouldnt be much good ;)

If you read the bottom they ask if he will play in the Recopa which is like our UEFA Super Cup and he says he'd love to win another trophy with Corinthians but can't due to "contractual obligations with Tottenham"

It's the same one that Talksport used for their pisstake. It's in Portuguese, so there's little point in linking to a clip of it.
Sandro said this, if it helps:
"I think he has what it takes to do well here,"
"This is a club with a great structure. We have been fighting for the top positions in the last few years and playing in European competitions. Paulinho will certainly help us become stronger.
"I can only say 'welcome to Tottenham, Paulinho'. I will try to do the same thing [Heurelho] Gomes did when I arrived. He was very important when I came and helped me adapt. If Paulinho needs me, I will help. I welcome him."

No idea why some of the reports edited out all mentions of Spurs from their coverage of the Corinthians press conference.
The player and chairman both made repeated references to us.

Marca seem to be indicating that Real have finally taken the hint on Bale, but not before trying to have a few digs at us.
    Classless bunch of arseholes.

He's right though, £100m is too much. Maybe Levy tried to pull a fast one and failed.

    Im curious...

Would we want Rooney at Spurs?

If he truly wants a "new challenge" he could look at our club and think - This could be interesting.

We have signed Paulinho, it looks certain we are going to keep both Bale and AVB, with us also interested in Villa I think he could be persuaded. He'd certainly be one of our key players which seems to be his issue at United. I also think AVB as a manager would suit him.

Yes I know there are bigger clubs interested and he would probably rather them!

But I think we could be a good 'outside bet'

    Bale - Rooney - Villa

    Paulinho - Sandro - Dembele

    Rose - Vertonghen - Kaboul - Walker

    Lloris

Would be as good as any starting 11 in the league.

    Is there a link?

I noticed the rumours had died down a bit in the last fortnight with Madrid signing Isco and being linked increasingly more with Suarez. Personally I can't imagine Suarez and Ronaldo being the best of chums if they linked up.

I wouldn't want him. The way he's treated Man Utd over the years shows that he thinks he is bigger than the club, can you imagine what he'd be like here? Great commercially, terrible for the dressing room, and not a significant enough improvement on the pitch to make it worth it.

Not to mention that his current wages are reported to be between £250-£300k p/w, a figure we cant hope to compete with. He might actually do well at somewhere like Barca, but I fully expect him to choose Monaco/PSG/Anzhi instead.

That's the most embarrassing piece of journalism I've ever read. It actually makes me quite angry that they are clearly trying to encourage Bale to "do a Modric" and force a move, utterly shameless. If they'd done their research they'd know that Bale has said repeatedly that he doesn't read any of this crap.

I'd have Rooney in a heartbeat, only problem is that he earns around £230k-£250k a week. We couldn't offer him anything near that.

It's the press conference you posted earlier where it's mocking us with fake subtitles <laugh>

"Carlos" as your vid's subtitles claim him to be, is actually Roberto Andrade who's a director of some sort at Corinthians, he's saying that basically Paulinho is now a Spurs player and wishes him all the best.
