Good Morning Everyone Subject to the usual paperwork crap that goes with a transfer, we have signed Noel Hunt. The Irish winger's arrival at Elland Road will not surprise anyone as it has been widely expected for some time. Is this a good transfer? Do we expect him to keep a regular starting slot for us? Is he going to take Varneys place in the team. More importantly, do we expect McDermott to sign another winger in addition to Hunt? If so, what does the future hold for Hall? Gary Kelly is looking to move into football management. The 38 year old who spent his entire career at Elland Road has been out of the football scene for eight years, but is in the process of taking his coaching badges. I'm sure we wish him well. Palarse have made a cheeky 3m bid for Byram. Well, they can sick my duck...... Robbie Rogers has claimed that British sport was more homophobic and racist than in the US. Rogers, a devout Christian, warned young athletes not to be put off by locker room taunts. "They aren't really homophobic. These are people trying to please others, or think that's what they're supposed to say," he said. I wonder if his life at Elland Road was made more difficult by his sexuality? It shouldn't be, but look how many times we have been a*se fu**ed by Bates and GFH, and we come back for more.... Thoughts?
Morning all I'd like to think Hunts arrival would at the very least mean we aren't going to see Varney played on the wing anymore, but I expect he will pretty much completely replace him, yeah. BMD knows what he is capable and will hopefully get the very best out of him. I think we still need another winger in addition as well. I can't really comment on Hall other than to say we've not seen him under two managers now, even when our season was over. There has to be a reason for that, and unless preseason is changing that, we might never see him given a run in the team. As for the Robbie Rogers thing. I really hope his life wasn't made more difficult at Elland Road. We put so much focus on getting rid of racism in the game, and seemingly little effort is given to dealing with homophobia which is still a real problem. Someone's sexuality shouldn't be a barrier to them playing professional football, and no one should feel like they have to pretend to be someone they are not to get over such a barrier.
Morning all. BMD brought in Smith because he's a good, strong target man which means we need options to play that way. However to do this we need a couple of wingers, and I can't find out if Hunt is actually a decent winger with a good cross, or if he's a striker that gets pushed out wide??? Can someone fill me in. Hall is either another Warnock shyte buy or a potential gem, so will be good to see how the boys line up in pre season, and if Hall is with them. I'm hearing that we'll see around 4 players leaving by next week. EHD, Varney and Brown are amongst this group. I'm starting to feel optimistic about this season and I've thats not happened to me for a few years.
Morning all. Yesterday's transfer rumours Chris Forrester from St Pats in Dublin and a year long loan deal for Marc Albrighton. Forrester a great winger, league of Ireland standard of course. Albrighton also young and highly rated. At least the profile of the players were linked with this summer are dramatically improved on previous seasons. The palace bid is a joke. Why had Colin an input in recommending him to Palace, we've hardly retained him Asa salesman hopefully
Morning Durham, Agree with the winger situation. I'd like to see another young pacey winger that will run at defenders...
Morning all. If we've got a 6ft plenty forward, we will need wingers or anyone geting in crosses. Even if Smith doesn't score himself, at least he'll be teeing it up for Ross and others to tap home. On Hall, I hope the way we're now likely to play (on the floor through the midfield) will prove that at least one Warnock signing was worth the money & the wait. On Rodgers, time he got over himself. Plenty of people have backed the Welsh rugby player who came out, probably as much because he was good at what he did on a rugby pitch. Not sure the same can be said of Rodgers on a football pitch. Okay, but nothing outstanding. £3m offer for Byram? Sounds like the starter for 10. Make it £8m & he maybe on his way. That's the way of the world. Even Spurs would sell Bale if a big enough offer came in. So whilst none of us would like to see Byram go, when he's that far above everyone else in the club AND he would have a re-ssale value for the purchasing club, we have to accept hat he may go in this window. If he doesn't and we're there or thereabouts come the January TW, he probably could be pursuaded to stay.
Morning Doc, Personally I'd like to keep Diouff. He adds loads of experience, and knows how to draw free kicks in good positions. Now we have a big target man (Smith), that could be invaluable....
Morning Eire, Must admit Albrighton would be a great ransfer, even if only a loan. I don't know much about Forrester. Just hope, he's better then Jamie.....(Who remembers him)?
Morning all!! Positive vibes all round, McD starting to shape his squad. Hunt has been signed because the manager believes in him, and the attitude he will bring to the dressing room. Gary Kelly should come to Leeds as a coach for a couple of seasons, he'll certainly show the players what it means to pull on the shirt. Robbie Rogers ... don't think he was talking about being targeted directly (he was still in the closet) but probably meant the banter would often include anti gay references. That's why its difficult for gay sportsmen to reveal themselves. As for Thomas, the gay Welsh rugby player, he is so ugly he had to come out to put himself in the window!! Now, if we get Albrighton it would help for sure, pace to burn and he would kill defences in this league, but not sure why Villa would want to loan him out ... oh, of course, they have Lambert as manager.
Albrighton would be a cracking signing, I can't understand why Lambert would want to loan him out, but I'll be very happy if he does! Nice one
Morning Elland. Getting over a bad back by being beaten up by a dodgy Kiwi. He claims to be a Chiropractor, but I know he's just got the hump over my hakka impression. Either way, all's well & looking forward to the Stevenage game next week. Let's hope although BMD will mix and match to ensure as many as possible get a game, we start out with as strong a side as possible & show us long suffering fans the style e can look forward to this season. Billy, why are you linking Thomas as ugly and coming out with Albrighton having pace to burn? Can't see the connection myself, but whatever floats ya boat!!
Just another curiosity ... Red Bull may be our next major investor, except they tend to buy rather than sponsor. That would probably mean a link up with NY Red Bulls, as well as Salzburg, Leipzig and their Academies in Brasil, Ghana and USA. This would be sensational, they certainly do things right. However, we may need to become Red Bull Leeds and wear their colours!!!!It makes sense for Red Bull to increase their portfolio in football with an English club, and Leeds ideal for a serious investor, but do GFH want to sell the lot before getting to Prem?
Would NOT be happy with that!! I don't really know anything about how well they are running the clubs they already own, but if we sold out our identity that would make us no better than Cardiff! Lloyd Sam is at NY Red Bulls though, so perhaps he'll put in a good word...
Jason Wilcox now at Man City managing the U-18's. When you think that they also have our former head of youth development from TA running their academy system and our former cheif kids scout, makes my blood boil thinking about the damage to our academy system under Bates. As for Palace offering £3m for Byrom, tell 'em to fook off. Why would a L1 player (Gayle) be worth £8m and less than half that for Sam
So long as he's not a sash wearing Irishman who can sing Armoured cars and tanks or similar such songs Shaks, all will be well!!!
