Any VAT experts out there? I had some house re-wiring done two years ago, and the rather laid-back electrician has only just sent me the bill, in which he has charged me VAT at the rate of 20%. IIRC the rate back then was 17.5% - so my question is, should the rate charged be the one at the time the work was done or the one at the time the bill was made up? I suppose I could just ask him, but he may be wrong himself - or just deduct 2.5% and send him a cheque.
It always used to be the rate at the time the work was carried out BB. Doubt that he would have reduced it if the rate had gone down instead of up.
It is a horribly complex subject - but strictly speaking the rate to be paid should be at the rate that was applicable when the services were supplies. So you can only pay 17.5% and there is nothing he can do about it.
Morning all from an overcast West West London - it poured down last night in bandit country and it's very damp and muggy. Hopefully the sun will be out to burn off the moisture. I wonder what today will bring in the whacky world of Watford.
G'day all - don't know why you are all complaining about the weather, it's blue skies and sunshine up here - admittedly a tad cool at 15C though. I have an appointment with the knee surgeon today & hope to find out the date for my first bit of replacement surgery. Can't come quickly enough......
Morning all, grey with some mizzle in the air here at present, but sun forecast for this afternoon. The temperatures are expected to be up in the 30°C's all next week, so bring the lotion Yorkie. Hope all goes well on the replacement parts BB. I sent off for one for the car and now it has arrived I find it to be different. You wouldn't really wish to have two right knees I assume.
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. I'm getting sick of all the random telephone calls I get from people who withhold their numbers.
