Is it just me who don't cheer my hat at 5 or 6 or 7 new signings. What? We had a good team already. Don't you know anything about football? So you think this is a shopping spree, and what are you, a 16 old girl or what? Why are we like that, it's dumb. The people who do this are dumb. I don't wan't to partake in it.
Hahahaha, i think it is you who needs to learn about football, we had a good team for half the season, then what happened! Every team need to progress doesnt matter how successfull they are. Newcastle know all about that, they finished fifth then when they made next to no changes the nearly went down! So yes, we are all very excited with these new signings and these player could take us to the next level! And if you don't like that then bye.
We needed to strengthen our squad substantially if we are to be competitive in the league, cup and Europe competitions. If you are a swans fan you would know we done the same last year, Michu, Chico, Hernandez, de Guzman, ki. And look how important they were.
Im not so sure we have signed anybody that will take us to the next level just yet TBH, its been mostly free transfers and £2/3m pound signings with potential but the club are trying to get its targets, which will mean upping the money and wages. To see us try and compete for the next level of player is beyond nearly every Swans fans dreams ! I remember us being thrilled at the signing of Martin Hayes, colin McDonald, carl heggs, linton brown etc,etc and let me tell you something those boys wernt exactly the greatest players to ever wear the jersey !!.... It just shows how far we have come and part of it for us fans is seeing us sign players we would have only dreamed about less than 5yrs ago ! if you cant understand that then the rest of what goes on in this message board will also go over your head
All teams have to get new players jock as players in every team need to be replaced or covered because they are not as good as they were. take leon for example he has been fantastic for us and should have made the England squad two seasons ago and he has been MR reliable for the last 10 years apart from the stint he had in sheffield but today he is not as good as he was, He still a massive player for us but you will find that he wont be first choice anymore and will spend some time on the bench coming on as sub or replaced by a sub, that is just one player and there are others, we need players better than what we have got just to survive, We never had a brilliant side we had an adequate side as we were not very good up front, Looking at the players we have acquired so far then if we can get another striker and a defender then i think we will be far stronger than last season and that will give us a far better chance of finishing in the top half again abet with more points than last season.....you have to strengthen even if you win the title...
I don't dis agree with any of that Dai. A top striker and a top centre half would be my choice too, I think other areas are padded out nicely, including the job leon will be doing, I see canas now being first choice there but leon is a fighter and we will see if he can take his level up another notch! There will be plenty of game time for everyone next season though
Dai's correct. We still have players in our squad that we acquired back in L1 days. They've been brilliant and grown with us, but they have to play at 100%+ of their ability to be effective. We need players that can play within themselves and be dominant - otherwise when the chips are really down we (they) have nothing in reserve.
thats why we fell away during the business end last season.....teams who needed points could up their game but we were static...
Bony Gomis Michu Williams Vorm Routledge Hernandez Britton Rangel Davies Taylor Chico Pozeulo Dyer Canas Amat Ki De Guzman Richards Gotta be honest, that is a nice looking team and that is not the full quota!!!! Who should make up the remainder lads?
You have 5 domestic over-21, I am excluding Jazz who is on the cusp and Davies because he is under age. To that you have to add: Moore .... then two from Monk, Tate, Lita, Obeng. Get's thin quickly doesn't it. Bartley and Cornell have been loaned out. At this point adding Shelvey on the cheap - and I mean dirt cheap, might not be a bad idea providing he can keep his attitude straight when he's not even bringing tea to the bench. If Jazz is older than the cut-off then he joins Moore and we need one more. BTW: any over-21's on your books must be named in your 25 man squad until the roster is full. So if we don't have a full complement it means that Monk, Tate, Obeng etc are added. Once we satisfy our domestic requirement, if we want to keep slots open then we have to ditch the over-21s - i.e. either loan them out or let them go .... I think?
People here are probably correct that it's the natural flow. I think the whiny people just got to me, they do sound and act like a bunch of girls outside the superstore queue. They'd buy their granny for 10 million if it was the only thing left to grab.
