Couple of interesting things going around Twitter tonight. 1) On the advice of Colin, Palace have had put in a £2.5 Million bid for Byram. 2) Young Irish winger Chris Forrester is supposedly joining the club from St Patrick. According to Waccoe his friends have congratulated him on the move. Don't know much about the player but he's played for Ireland's U21 squad and the St Patrick fans seem to think his a class player.
Jonathon Powley ‏@JonP11 26m "NCFC have joined Crystal Palace in the race to sign highly rated Leeds youngster, Sam Byram". @Bradley4Johnson another LUFC player! Bradley Johnson ‏@Bradley4Johnson 14m @JonP11 haha good signing if happens that's all I can say....
You sure ? I can't remember the exact figure but I think the team that finishes BOTTOM of the EPL next year recieves around £65M in addition to parachute payments over the next few seasons. In all seriousness, I think it's total bollocks this time TBH and I was just having a bit of a WUM
You just made your club record signing of 8.5 mill, and as I understand you had to push the boat out to get him... Byram will cost you that much at least.
Maximum Sam Byram could command is £5-6m, so he won't. If Palace have made a bid of £2.5-£3m, that gives you an idea of the bottom end of the range for his value, with the top end being no more than double. In any event, we must have at least £15m-£20m in the kitty, given that RvW was bought out of last season's budget
That bid is a questionable rumour that has just been laughed off by our manager. If Zaha can go for 15 mill then Byram can go for 8. Good news if you ask me, higher his value the less likely he is to go.
Byram is not a lightning fast winger/forward with tricks to boot. Forwards command a much higher price than defenders and full backs are the cheapest of the lot. Relationship between value and likelihood of leaving is not negative...
No he isnt a lightning fast winger/forward with tricks to boot. But he kept the said mentioned Zaha in his pocket all game frustrating him so much he swapped wings. Did the same to Bale as well. He's made a few mistakes along the way but that was Sams first season, and what a blinder it was
Because that's the low end of his value? Perfectly reasonable for you to ask more. If he goes, I imagine it will be for c.£4.5m and a massive 50% premium on the original offer, which is a fantastic price for a fullback unproven in the Premier League (bear in mind Clichy went for £7m). That would be a very good deal for you. Any more than that and the buyer has possibly overpaid, but if he's as good as you say it might well be worth it. Big risk though for a fullback.
