You would have known me Dad, regular in either Greenwood or Cavalier, dependant what day it was. Used to drink with Ron Ron. I saved the life of one of the ex rugby players who drank in the Cavalier, stopping the arterial bleeding from having his arm glassed.
I lived on 21st with my Grandma who was a cleaner, barmaid and did the food for all the Darts, snooker and Pigeon Clubs. She knew everyone as archtiger will testify. Alas she is no longer with us.
21st ave...a great street to be brought up on.. My uncle Ronnie ( R-I-P ) and my Aunty Shirley use to work in cavalier club, maybe run it. Was giving my Aunty Shirley a big hug not more then a couple of weeks ago. No doubt il see her again when I'm visiting my mum. My sister still lives on 21st and I visit often.. I remember going fishing in Barmby drain with my uncle Ronnie years ago and he caught bloody big pike . Me n my cousin susie use to knock about as nippers. Always liked going to see my Aunty Shirley when I was a nipper...
City Agro. Yes that was her name cossie F tuti... I was to young and innocent when Mr G P Oridge gave me that offer.... I thought he might want to do something to me... Eek. Me n my mate Jacko use to skip school and go see mr GP Oridge on dagger lane.
It was Jacko that showed me a newspaper cutting showing the latest craze style down south...something called ' skinhead'. He also knew that the barber shop next to regent cinema was doing skinhead cuts so we went and got our heads shaved....Barber said we was about the 6th / 7th to have the skinhead hair cut...so my claim to fame was one of the very first skinheads in hull...once we paid a quid for a pair of bovver boots from army and navy store...had to find two boots the same size out of a mountain of x army boots...me mum and dad freaked out when I went home with a near bald head and a pair of hob nail boots on.... Not long after there was more and more going for the same look
