there are only two reasons to wonder about moyes: 1. ferguson was unique and you could boast worlds greatest manager ever... Thats one big thing, nobody on earth can sustain 25 years of intensity and drive. ferguson could get under others skins, i can't see anything other than mourinho winding him up. 2. moyes with respect to our toffee friends doesn't play and never played like Ferguson. he's been long ball and every time he sees us goes even more long ball and sends sides out to foul. Its this totally different and to my view less effective "give the ball to away" type game that i can't see working. Utd more than any other english side learned from europe how to keep the ball and use it with urgency, not just tippy tappy at the back. If this chances utd change. WIth respect every press hack out there would say the same, its not a wish nor hope nor LFC bias saying these things. Its a big change.
Fair enough. I read it. Couldn't be bothered to copy and paste it tho. That's a job for the admin boy.
I doubt Mourinho, Fergie, Pep, Klopp, Del Bosque or whoever would of won much if anything with Everton over the past decade. his lack of silverware doesnt concern me. All managers start on zero and only those who's first jobs are at massive clubs win anything in their first few years as a manager.
Yet Laudrup won the League Cup with Swansea, Martinez won the FA Cup with Wigan, 2 teams with much less than Everton and managers who have joined much sooner than Everton. Everyone says how no one could have done as good a job as Moyes has with Everton but to say other managers wouldn't have won anything is stupid as managers at lesser teams have proven.
And? Did they win anything for an Everton side clearly aiming for top 6? that was their priority not cups. Alex ferguson hadnt won the FA Cup for a while and Di Matteo has won a Champions League yet Wenger hasnt. Does this tell us anything? Not a thing.
Yet Wenger gets called past it because they've not won anything in what, eight years? Wonders never cease!
But is Di Matteo a better manager because he won the Champions League? even if we take all of Wengers trophies away is he better? Like **** he is? Is Di Matteo better than Jose? Hes done what Jose hasnt at Chelsea? Its not as easy as so and so won this at that club so hes better than thingy because thingy didnt win a cup at this club.
And? You're point was that none of those managers could have won a trophy at Everton... why not? Other managers at other teams have shown it can be done... And what does top 6 get you? Nothing... Are you saying you'd prefer Moys to aim for top 4, rather than the title then, as your point is you understand him going for top 6 over a trophy Your second statement was only managers at massive clubs win anything in their first few seasons, well no disrespect to Swansea but Laudrup won something in his first year. Benitez won Champ League & FA Cup in his first 2 years, you must admit that we are a massive club in that respect then?
Well you are Liverpool so I will let you answer that one yourself. have a think about this. Birmingham and Wigan both recently won silverware and were relegated. Now the fans will be happy they won a trophy and thats a given yet the clubs themselves would of preferred staying in the league because thats where the security is, the future. Wigan will now exhaust ever possibility they can to gain promotion now. As for this confusing bit..... I think you have United and Everton confused. At United he will be aiming to win the title because thats what United do. At Everton top 6 is a great achievement in todays Premier League.
I didn't say he was. I just find it amusing how judgements change depending on what manager fans are talking about. I actually think Moyes will do well. I haven't got much reasoning behind that thought other than a gut feeling and knowing he is able to motivate players into over-performing (no offence Evertonians)
No, a cup is a great achievement 6th place is nothing... Moyes didn't manage in 10 years something that Laudrup managed in his first (see you ignored that part though). Heck even Phil Parkinson managed to get to a cup final with Bradford! The fact is, Moyes had a team that was challenging for 6th and was always congratulated for overachieving, yet when he came under any kind of pressure (semi final's / finals) he couldn't cope and his teams failed.
