I have a grip Jeff. I never said he wasn't a good coach. I said he is a buffoon. Just my personal opinion of the man.

A buffoon maybe, but he did a pretty dammed good job for Fergie, and as has been pointed out, he's had some success at club level. Colour me happy with this one.

I'd take him as our coach any day of the week. He might have the personality of a goldfish but loads of players speak very highly of him.
I also think that he has the stature, knowledge and experience to manage some of our so called 'superstars'
    A resounding yes from me

Well we talk a good talk at QPR but failed to walk the walk ... The corporate side of QPR I am certain will motor but I actually enjoy football .. If Stephen joins Harold I have no option but to follow Montpellier on a more regular basis

Well, it's official! I for one am pleased with this:
    MCCLAREN JOINS BACKROOM TEAM

HARRY Redknapp has moved to strengthen his backroom team with the appointment of Steve McClaren.

McClaren has carved out an excellent reputation as a coach, beginning with Oxford United and Derby County before enjoying similar roles with Manchester United and England.

R’s boss Redknapp told www.qpr.co.uk: “I am delighted to have been able to bring Steve in.

OK so we now have Harold, McClaren, Bond, Jordan and any other that anyone cares to mention as backroom staff......all with huge amounts of experience at very good levels.....there really is no excuse for not ripping up the league this season.......over to the players......

So have I now thanks to many of our great posters and their comments on this thread. S&M's knowledge of the Dutch and German leagues may help us recruit some real gems from those leagues.

Some good positive points made on this thread. My initial reaction was underwhelmed, because of the England fiasco, the Dutch accent farce and more generally the 'another old name, tainted with failure, recycled' feel. But maybe he can liven up Harold's thinking. I'm sure he did a great job for Ferguson, but you could say the same of all of Fergie's coaches. If Harold can bring a bit of Fergie to the mix, I'll be both impressed and surprised.

    Has Cotterill definitely gone?

So now we have the quality backroom staff all we need now is a team that can play together & get us back where we belong.

Cotterill was only supposed to be on a short term contract, but has anyone actually suggested that he is gone?

I thought Cotterill's contract was only to the end of last season.......haven't seen anything mentioned about him actually going but assumed he has gone..

I also think it's a good appointment. Can only be a good thing in my opinion to bring in some experience, a different perspective but hopefully some good coaching knowledge gained elsewhere along with the contacts

Have to say lads we now have as good a backroom team as anyone in the PL, certainly better than the majority in the championship and a team that at least on training video that should be head and shoulders above most of the other sides, plus we have a new pristine pitch.......so what is the word I'm looking for?.........begins with g and was used extensively last season by Hughes and co.........

Harold & co you now have a little over 30 days to get this lot up to speed and wanting to play for the club.....not the money......you really have no excuses if you screw it up......
