You naughty boy, its only the banter that makes this site work, how long have you been on here? for me its all about the banter if I wanted conciliatory crap I'd have joined Sports Witness run by that ****ing dyke Brian Eaves. P.s. Just how many times were you banned from 606 aka king shergar?
Good luck Scholes with your coaching role. Great player to watch, the master of midfield If only you had carried on longer for England A proper guy who keeps himself to himself and just does it for the football True Legend
Oh yes they do. Without the correct context and correct methods by which you have arrived at your "stats" then they are not painting an honest picture. Any stat can be twisted to suit a person's own means so I would like to see a proper methodology of how you have acquired and analysed your stats, the conclusions you have drawn and how also the framework the stats are to work in.
Maybe. But then Josh is no Ryan Tunnicliffe His methodology? I'm guessing it has something to do with Wikipedia...
Scholes deserves his plaudits for sure, he has been a great servant to the club over the years and for me has been the better out of the two between him and Gaggsy. Of course its always nice to get plaudits from ones fellow professionals but I'd imogen that when Frank retires his will be greater. As for analysing stats the methodology is just what they say as backed up in todays Daily Mail online Scholes has been great for United as Frank has for Chelsea, as football is about goals I would say that Frank's contribution in that important department has been better but this in no way detracts from Scholes contribution to United's success.
You might have a point there, had Scholes only gotten plaudits when he retired. But unfortunately for your argument, by the time Scholes was the same age Lampard is now, Zidane had already described him as the best player he'd ever faced, Henry had called him the best player in the Premier League and Lippi had said he'd be first on the teamsheet in putting together a top team. And like I said before, if football is all about goals I guess you agree that Darron Gibson is much better than Mikel, Essien and Ramires then?
And how many of Franks goals we're penalties? How many games did Frank play deep infront of the back four and create chances with his passing? It's not all about goals otherwise as Swarbs said, you'd be saying that Gibson is better than Essien. You have to take the players as a whole in everything they do, it's just about goals and assists. Scholes was a master at dictating the tempo of a game, as good as Lampard is, he can not do that to the level that Scholes could. Yes Lampard has scored a lot of goals but he takes penalties and played so many of his games as a second striker which Scholes hasn't. Scholes has played forward but he has spend most of his career as a creative and controling midfielder. Lampard is very good, when played in the right position, but I couldn't agree that he's better than Scholse.
Good try but Zidane actually said of Scholes was that "he was the hardest opponent he ever faced" I think your letting sentiment cloud your judgement a little. People are always going to say nice things about someone who is retiring unless your name is Joey Barton or Roy Keane.
Well Dave that isn't too hard to answer as Frank's assists are also greater then Paul's so he must be passing quite nicely for that to happen I'd Imogen But as they were similar players before Scholes was asked to play deeper I think the goals tally is very relevant. I'm not sure where your going with the penalties though? maybe Paul wasn't considered good enough to risk taking them? I'd ask Fergie about that if I were you. The are some nuances between them but not that much but its Frank that edges it for me although he is behind Paul in regard of his 9 red cards & 87 yellows but I guess the upshot of that statistic means Frank maybe the better tackler too? But as you say Dave its all about personal choice mate. Pay your money and take your choice
Epic fail Zidane actually said "My toughest opponent? Scholes. He is undoubtedly the greatest player of his generation". Sounds pretty conclusive to me But go on, roll out some more "stats" if it'll make you feel better... And he wasn't talking about Scholes when he retired, he was talking about him when Scholes was still playing, and was only a year older than Lampard is now. Haven't seen many plaudits for Lampard recently.
Is that as reliable as Pele's 100 all time greats Great player Zidane but sadly on par with the great Pele in picking great players
Is he also on a par with Xavi, Lippi, Alonso, Davids, Fabregas, Vieira, Shearer, Henry, Allardyce, Guardiola and Strachan? Even Mourinho said Scholes was one of the best midfielders in the world, and he built his team around Lampard! The best he ever compared Lampard to was a bottle of wine! Wait, let me guess, anyone who says Scholes is better than Lampard is very bad at picking players, eh? Is that your new "mantra"?
Schole's was our little ginger pele plain and simple. A world class play that also gave his all to our club, you're never been forgot. Out of respect SAF should retir the number.18 shirt as a mark of respect to his great 20 years service to our great club.
I think we all agree that Mourinho is probably one of the top three managers in the world today? Well he walked into a shower suited and booted to tell Frank Lampard (whilst scrubbing his balls) he was the best midfielder in the world! Sort of makes the Lippi comment laughable Also Frank has the following plaudits; Runner up FIFA world player of the year Runner up Ballon d'Or Football Writers Association Footballer of the year UEFA Club Midfielder of the year Professional Footballers' Association Fans' Player of the Year England player of the year Barclays player of the season Premier League: Player of the decade Premier League: Midfielder with the most goals in premier league history 139 goals I would have included Scholes plaudits but he didn't have any? But hey if Scholes is your choice that's o.k. I'll stick with the winner
How about these stats PL Titles Scholes 10 Lampard 3 CL Titles Scholes 2 Lampard 0 Did you also know that by your logic Ginger, Darren Bent was a far better striker than Zola, your logic, not mine
Well mourinho may be in the top 3. But the top 2 would disagree with you. Before the CL final Guardiola said that if scholes fancied a change of scenary after the game he would be more than welcome in the barcelona team. 5 of their players queued up to get his shirt. When did the current best manager in the world ever offer frank lampard a place in the greatest ever team to play the game? O yeah, he didnt.
