You're comparing cup wins with league wins, which is a small club mentality. You know that.

You haven't though Drogs unless you value each trophy to be the same which they are not, swapping wouldn't even cross the mind of a United fan.

Well with Below Average Moyes you'll not be celebrating any Prem titles any time soon.......unless you sack him and get in Pulis.

Like you say Drogs, you were better than us in 03-06, but that, imo, is largely because we and the rest of the PL were completely unprepared for a club spending like Chelsea did over a sustained period. When Roman arrived, Utd and Arsenal had transfer budgets of around £15m per annum (our annual report stated that the Rooney transfer was our budget for two years), so we were in no shape to compete with Chelsea spending £150m then £100m then £60m.

Roman was also quite fortuitous, when you compare Chelsea to City for example, that Utd were in a period of decline when he arrived, with only one PL trophy in the three seasons to 2004 and our poorest squad since the 1980s. It meant Chelsea only had to surpass Arsenal for the first three years, and thus were able to pick up five trophies in Mourinho's first three seasons. After that initial burst of success, you have lagged way behind Utd, and now City, in terms of trophies won and title challenges, with only 09/10 and 11/12 really being successful seasons for Chelsea. And that has as much been down to Abramovich's constant interference with the team and managers as it was to do with Utd and City being strong.

In term's of his overall impact, it has been pretty negligible outside Chelsea. The main impact has probably been contributing to the massive wage inflation in recent years, and that was arguably as much down to the Sol Campbell Bosman transfer as anything.

He hasn't made the PL more competitive - prior to his arrival there were six seasons with Utd and Arsenal occupying the top two slots, with Liverpool getting second once. After his arrival and the initial transition in 04 and 05, there were six seasons with Utd and Chelsea occupying the top two slots, with Liverpool getting second once. And now we've had two seasons of Utd and City occupying the top two slots, wonder if history will repeat itself? Nah, can't see Liverpool ever getting second again ;)

If anything, he's segmented the PL more financially - revenue never used to be a huge factor in determining positions in the table, with clubs like Newcastle and Leeds able to push for the CL without large revenues and Ipswich and West Ham pushing for the UEFA. But nowadays it is almost always the four clubs with the highest revenue who occupy the top four slots and that's likely to continue for the foreseeable future.

    that <ok>
everyone agree that Chelsea raised the bar high taking the clubs by a storm and PL has changed since
but at the first sight of UTD started to catch up even with a modest team, Chelsea cracked and Jose been fired

Amazing how such a simple comment can generate such a volatile response. Calm down dear.

1 league title in 7 years. That's ****ing embarrassing given how much money has been spent on players and managers.

Gladly though, you don't support our club. Now that would be embarrassing.

Agreed, I'd be very embarrassed to be associated with a club like Chavski!

The PL was better in the 90's when the challengers were not so clear cut.

Villa, Blackburn, Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool ( sort of ) all offered a challenge.

Monaco and PSG play in a **** league ( well PSG do, Monaco......didnt even play in Ligue 1 last season ).

The myth that Roman brought more competition doesnt stand up against scrutiny. He hampered it if anything.

5 league titles top every trophy bar ( and I am being kind here as many would disagree ) the Champions League. We both have 1 CL.

FA Cup, League Cups are second tier, World club Championship is even lower and Europa League doesnt count <ok>

Do you think those clubs would be challenging now though. Given their resources.

    If Roman never bought Chelsea?

Arsenal & Liverpool certainly. Hard to say who else really.
