being released today its a must to have a good no 2 if reports are correct that mcgregor is a done deal . because of our spending being not as big as the bigger clubs . i would like to see schwarzer as no 2 as mcgregor is not a 100 % no 1 in my eyes so will need some one to fight for his jersey

He says he wants regular games to get in the Australian world cup squad and that’s why he left Fulham

If he wants regular games he's hardly likely to want to come in as our number 2 surely

I have Schwarzer over McGregor anyway, he could do a lot better than being our no.2.

Number 2? hahaha what the hell is this post?

Schwarzer would be number 1 by a mile, so if we're going for Mcgregor I presume it's because we have no chance of signing Schwarzer.

If you sign him to be your #2 behind McGreggor then i'd have to laugh...a bit.

Schwarzer turned down a new deal at Fulham because he didn't want to be a No.2, so there's obviousy no chance of him agreeing to be our No.2.

I'd gladly have him as our No.1, but we're not paying almost £2m for McGregor, just to have him on the bench.

So are we going for mcgregor because we have no chance with scharzer?

Because otherwise what a stupid move to be paying £2million for any keeper when schwarzer is on a free.

Ironically Mcgregor's wiki page says he's a hull city player.

I agree Schwarzer is a great keeper with lots and lots of EPL experience, but it actually works out pretty even over the first year. Schwarzer on £50k plus a week, McGregor around £20k plus £1.8m transfer fee. Over 2 seasons, McGregor costs roughly £3.9m, Schwarzer £5.2m unless we negotiate a substantial wage reduction.

So maybe Bruce is going for longevity, something we've not had in a goalkeeper in a long time?

He's the keeper I wanted us to get, so if he were here i'd rather him be the no.1.

The only real problem with Schwarzer is his age. He certainly could not be a long term option, we would have to be looking at other keepers all the time.

I think we'll sign a lower league keeper to be our No2.

Moore is probably the keeper we're looking at for the no.2 spot.

Hi Guys - I'm surprised that Mark S hasn't been snapped up by you. He would need to be number 1, but he has got at least 2 seasons left at the top I reckon - he is very fit and lean, trains hard and is very careful about lifestyle. Many Fulham fans would have been quite happy for him to stay another year.

BTW his wage at Fulham was in the £40-45k range

Australia media are reporting that Mark has received an offer with Hull City being the team that has made it. Have we officially signed McGregor yet?

He's apparently had his medical and his signing is expected to be announced today.

We've been looking at Moore for ages, it's no secret that SB is a fan. It will depend on how reasonable Brentford are with the price, but if we want him we shouldn't have too much trouble getting him so long as we don't muck about.

I also rate Stech at Yeovil, but now they've gone up it's going to be difficult to convince him to be number 2.

Ikeme at Wolves, Forde at Millwall, Jalal at Bournemouth or Olejnik at Peterborough would all make great back up keepers. The latter is definitely an up and coming keeper.

That probably explains why we haven't got him. We will likely want him to take a wage cut.
