So you might as well let SN23, WLOH and Gimmiethickerhoops back as well, as none of them have been anywhere near as bad as this plank over the years.
Rest assured I have had my say on the matter and am more than prepared to leave it well alone - as long as people don't start making stuff up in my name again, that was the only reason I got back involved again last night and this morning. Believe it or not I had actually already let it go (hence me not posting on here for over two months) and only logged in to post my retort last night after I saw my name being taken in vain and some untruths being posted that involved me. I do believe I have now more than made my case clear and have got what I needed to off my chest so panic not boys and girls, there will be no more mud-slinging from my side of the fence and you can all go back to speculating who our next signings are going to be this summer - which is pretty much the kind of thing this forum was designed for, rather than the name calling and petty squabbling that I must take a certain amount of responsibility for. TMC over and out, enjoy the rest of your summers and COME ON YOU BLUDDA YELLAS!!!!
God knows, I tried, in my previous post. And I stand by what I said. That was then, this is now. A new, top of the range striker arrived today, plus we've gone from being third placed 'also-rans' to pole position for Redmond, a quick, left-sided wide player. Positive signs at Carrow Road - let's see some on the NCFC forum, too.
Great, agreed both and sounds like we are both prepared to extend the olive branch. For the record, I really didn't mean to take your name in vain, Munky (there was a lot of speculation going on, which you have clarified), but if the indirect effect is that it means you become a regular poster again, every cloud!
Not quite! We have unfortunately lost ThaiCanary over this latest decision! I'll be honest, I'm more upset over that than anything else!
Haven't read all the posts so don't know what caused that but that is a real shame - enjoyed his contribution.
Oh no! As you know Dave, I had guru on 'ignore' because of his 'never let up' manner of posting. This worked for me, and I would urge Thai to do the same. Would hate to lose a poster like him over this nonsense. As for the unbanning, as I've said before, happy to go along with the mods' decision on it, and use the ignore function again if necessary.
What JK said!! I realised this decision wouldn't be popular in all quarters, but I'm gutted if its cost us members, that certainly wasn't the intention. I can only call things as I see them, and from private conversations with Guru, the word repentant seems apt. I wasn't around much on old 606, so any behaviour there I can't consider, but (and if I'm confusing things with the F1 board sorry), I thought not606 was meant to be a clean slate. As to the other names mentioned, those decisions were well before my time as a mod as far as I'm aware, so it wouldn't be right for me to try and get involved long after the event. Perhaps I'm not cut out for moderation, but I'm trying!
Trouble with the ignore button is, you still see it when ever they are quoted and know when they post. It seems when an Ipswich fan posts it's not that bad but it always derail the threads, quite frankly I'd be happy if they all get banned lol. I do think DHCanary and Dave do an exceptional job, it can't be easy dealing with this sort of thing and you're always going to upset someone. I don't really know anyone here, but it is sad when people decide to leave and not contribute to the forums any more. If I buy you all beers, will everyone cheer up and stay? lol
If you're going round buying everyone beers, I can see where you get your user name! I.ve pleaded with Thai to use his ignore button but he is adamant atm, I'm hoping after a while he may miss us enough to come back!
This is my first post but technically I signed up a month or two ago. If you buy me a beer i'll promise to stay!
Welcome Ricky. It's uncertain times on here at the moment for numerous reasons, but it is rarely dull! Hope you enjoy yourself.
Good to see me offering free beer made you want to make your first post Welcome to the forums anyway I'll get you your beer... if I don't drink it first.
Having read some of the comments I will reply accordingly. The ignore function is wonderful! Well, it would be if you could not see the ignored person on the board at all! Many of us have, at one time or another had Guru on "ignore", myself included and following his previous 7 day ban for doing what he does, I gave him another chance, as did the moderators. It came as little, or indeed no surprise to see him swiftly return the same pillock that was banned just a couple of weeks before. The way I see it,is as follows:- I do not know how many NCFC posters have Guru on their ignore list, but off the top of my head I can name three, I am guessing the actual figure is probably quite a bit higher. Why do these people have him on "ignore? Over to you guys, you know as well as I do. If so many people have him on "ignore", does that not indicate there is actually a problem with him? I think it does. Yes, I can ignore him again if I choose to but why the hell should I have to? Why should I, as a NCFC fan, on the NCFC board, have my enjoyment of the aforementioned board ruined by not being able to read what is said? Even seeing the name, when ignored, just gets on my mams, as 9 times out of 10, I know he is up to no good, and quoted replies are posted with the evidence to back it up. Moving on - I know, perhaps better than most how hard it is to moderate a board with a reasonably good number of "in-house" posters and that job does become much harder when you get persistent idiots coming along. In this case, Guru is actually quite unique. Andy (gimmiethickerhoops, among other names) at least posted more often on the QPR board (his teams board) than he did on here. (By the way Dave, Andy is now reformed character, might be a nice gesture to invite him over some time ) where as Guru spends the majority of his time and effort on the Norwich board, mostly arguing or stirring and the odd nicety thrown in to try and balance it out a bit. Why? I have said it countless times, he comes on here for his personal gratification and enjoys stirring (I think that can quite safely be said). The more we get riled, the happy he gets, and let there be no doubt - he ****ing loves it! We all know he is doing it, some react and others don't. Now if no one reacted he would hopefully go away, but I am realistic to understand that this will never happen because some people like to play along. On to this specific latest ban, a decision that was made in fairness and good faith presumably, and based on previous warnings and ban - so why has it been rescinded off the back of two posts (one on each board) crying about the injustice of it? To me, the action was fully justified and yet another chance is not warranted, he has had plenty of chances, dating back to when I was a moderator. I gave him a formal warning a long time ago, you know what he did? Played the victim - just as he is doing now and if there is any common ground with all wums on Not606 - they are ALL victims and NEVER at fault themselves, despite a succession of warnings. All, in all, any enjoyment I have on this board has evaporated, thanks to a combination of Guru and, for me, a sign of weakness by Dave and DH (Assuming DH had any say in the reversal), and no doubt Guru will be knocking one out as he is reading this. So guys, thanks - it's been a blast, all the best OTBC and **** the binners
what a shame if we are losing Thai; please take some time out Thai and have a think about it. i can see your viewpoint as well as dave / DH and the overall harmony between our and their board.
I don't fancy trawling through both threads to check the numbers, but several people have suggested they wanted (or at least had no objections to) Guru being around the place. Equally, some were happy to be rid of him. Whilst I haven't done an exact count (if it satisfies people I will...) I felt those wanting him back were in a slight majority. I raised the issue with Dave, on the back of discussions with Guru and others. Dave was happy to reduce the ban to a month, but that has since been lowered still by Dave. If anyone should take the blame for Guru's return, I'd argue it should be me. Obviously I'm not aware of the details of previous bans, and what warnings were given, and there's little reason why I should have been. But, as I feel I'm now to blame for any future controversy created by him, I've read him the riot act, and laid down some fairly clear ground rules, the breaking of which will have a pretty clear outcome. To his credit (in my opinion), Guru has said he's quite happy for myself or Dave to warn him when he's taking his "dog with bone" routine a bit far, and he'll drop it. I'd also like to think he'll use his own judgement on that a bit more too, as we aren't always around. I also hope he doesn't mind me putting that in public. If I've done wrong, apologies. I'll return to chief double-post-deleter and thread-title-corrector in future, and stay well away from any politics. And again, sorry to everyone if my actions have lost us Thai, and anyone else unhappy with this decision.
