If this is true about these youngsters, we must be planning on spending a fortune this summer. Even if we're not forking out the full £17m on them just yet, it's surprising to see a chunk of our transfer budget being spent on two players who are going to be loaned back, when were desperate for a striker etc.

It's probably coming out of the striker fund. Signing Benteke will be scaled back to signing Bent <yikes>

I'm actually really worried about us signing these 2 lads. If we are paying £17m for them £17m for Paulinho where are we going to get money to sign a top class (OR TWO) striker(s)? Selling our deadwood wont cover that.

The only 3 options I see are...

    1. Levy & Co have decided to suddenly heavily, heavily invest?

    2. We are going to sell Bale

    3. We aren't going to sign a striker

If these lads were to come in and be backup / challenge for places fine - but in the article on Sky it says neither would be able to play for us until 2016 due to regulations??

    Quote:
Even though Croatia are now EU members, regulations mean that players are not free to move until 2016.

Maybe the 2 good games Adebayor had were enough to convince Levy he's the one <whistle>

    4 - we've been secretly taken over?

Mind you, officially we have spent zero so far, so maybe we are all getting ahead of ourselves

That may not apply to Halilovic as he's already a full international.

didn't we play a post season match in jamaica or some such where Lewis was expected to watch? Maybe he disliked what he saw so much that he decided to open up his wallet?

We did, and we played the game in the Bahamas where Joe Lewis lives as a recluse, so I doubt he went to watch the game, but a meeting was on the agenda, and I believe this is an unusual step taking the manager to meet him, not sure Harry ever did.... http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...n-crunch-villas-boas-levy-lewis-to-thrash-out

That does paint a rosey picture. Money to be spent. No late deals. Strikers.
Oh, its goal.com, so probably wrong :-(

The source was just the first one on google mate, there's loads, its no secret this meeting took place. No details of it will ever be released of course, you've just got to read between the lines as to why it took place...not to discuss the lovely weather that time of year I'd say! <ok>

It's an easy sell, frankly - all Levy and/or Andre needed to tell Lewis is loosening the purse strings for another striker last summer, or even in January, would've probably seen us finish in the CL places.

Heck, loosening the purse strings to hire someone to strap a rocket to Ade's backside for 90% of last season might have helped...

Very excited about the link with the two Croats.

Can't say I know much about Jedvaj apart from that he's a very highly rated CB and was either MOTM of one of the best performers in only his 3rd professional game which was against Hajduk (Dinamo's rivals).
But Halilovic is one of Europe's most promising youngsters and would be more than welcome here. Only just turned 17 and plays as if he's 22/23. Massive potential. Getting Halilovic would be a major coup for us. If he reaches his potential and carries on developing, you're looking at a £30m player without a doubt.
