When Joeys current deal runs out he will be nearing 30... the 4 years you are yapping about will be added onto the current deal. when he nears the end of that he will be around 34.. it doesnt make sense to give him a long contract. its too big of a risk. hes a good player but hes not that good that u have to take a gamble on.

face it his time is probably up so stop crying about it. we are bringing players in and improving the team... and it is a TEAM... not just Joey Barton.

I dont like ashley but id trust him a hell of a lot more that if someone like you was running the club

Simpson isn't great, but he's definitely a very able back up player and first teamer at a push, young, probably on peanuts and he's certainly 20 times better than ****ing Perch. Doesn't make sense not to sign him up. I don't think they'll sign another right back this summer as it's not the priority at the moment so we're stuck with him as our first choice whether you like it or not.

I honestly think Simpson would be ten times better if he'd stop backing off players so much and giving them too much respect. Hopefully he'll learn this.

I like Simpson. I do think we need better quality there long term. But the reality is we are not going to spending lavishly this summer. If we were I'd go and get Hutton or see if we can get a loan of Walker from Spurs. All the earlier promises re: the 35m, i think we all knew that was poppycock. So we have to focus our budget on the areas in desperate need. We signed the CM missing to provide competition to Nolan/Tiote. Smith and Guthrie couldn't provide this. Then there is our attack and some real competition for Barton on the right. Although it looks like the club will get rid of Barton.

Simpson for me falls in the Andy Griffin. Not great but good back up and aggressive. He looks worse when he stands off people which Griffin did against worse players for some reason. Tell him to get on Giggs/Beckham tight, and he was virtually inside them! Haha.

No, Simpson was one of the people he was twisting on about being offered a contract.

This is great, I think Simpson is a good player. He is the quality at which we are at the moment, bottom half of the Premieership. If we want to push forward then a better right back would be required but he is also good as back up. He is also on peanuts (relatively) and also young. I say well done Mike Ashley!
