I don't, personally mate, no longer are countries entirely self suffcient, and as such world trade is utterly essential.

I'd agree that Britain has suffered, overall, as a result of a reduction of manufacturing costs etc worldwide, but then, did we not price ourselves out of these markets?

 

Priced out by countries who don't match up to our health and safety laws, and who use child labour as a matter of course...

 

No debate on that mate, but taxation on overseas businesses and such didn't help our case.

 

For me the whole globalised capitalist system is designed to increase the wealth of the already rich at the expense of the rest of us..

 

Of course, but if commerce had remained within the country, the same thing would happen on a local scale mate.

If someone has something people need, soon enough they will charge a premium, and people will have no choice but to pay it, that can be applied on any level.

 

I don't think it would be possible, given our current population levels, to have commerce confined within our national borders. However, if they are going to continue with the glabalisation of the commercial world, they should have a global governing body that sets rules regarding health and safety, age of workforce and levels of income, in order to prevent the exploitation of people by global conglomerates which is the norm at present..
